I seen a user in ASC that he is selling his VFC 416D with 2 mags for only $400, I will pick that up instead of WE one lol

GodsLt January 5th, 2015 21:01

I was actually looking at that one too lol!
I'm extremely interested!

Cookedham, in the end, have your VFC's given you trouble? I'm leaning on the VFC on trades alone, given how both are at the same price range...lol.

I would really like to know your in depth experience with the guns cookedham, as it seems like you're the only one that has them!

cookedham January 7th, 2015 09:43

the major thing is your need the knowledge to know how to maintain a GBB rifle, properly tune up and cleaning is very important, other than that the gun works great, mags will leak eventually due to the o ring, i need to fix the leak from the mags, same as WE or any other brands

if you know how or some friends can help, u are good to go, i knew the guy who sell the 416d in person, he's great to deal with

handled both, if u r a collector that don't intent to game it, go for the VFC 416; If you r a gamer, go for WE 416; if you wanna do a little bit of both, get a WE 416 and get it engraved.

BioRage January 7th, 2015 11:25

Keep in mind engraving will be an additional time + gas + research + $50-100.

You can find WE GBBR mags for cheap on classifieds here and there, look out for them if you go that route.

Both

I have owned both! The Vfc looks and performs beautifully, but the WE parts are more readily available and cheap! Personally I would go with the WE.

I was on the same spot as you few months ago, and I decided to get a VFC for the same reason - trades and plan to upgrade it, however, I was lucky enough to get a fully upgraded HK416D from an ASC member here.

---------------------------------------------------------

Upgrade Parts:

You may want to check out youtue videos from both Nucleus51 and nugentgl if you decide to go with the VFC upgrade route.

Here are the possible upgrades for VFC HK416D GBBR, some of them are optional.
It seems VFC internal parts are made of softer steel, so, In my opinion, trigger set, hammer & disconnector set, and Z-Parts Steel Bolt Carrier (no need if it's a newer version BCG with steel insert) must be upgraded.

VFC Original Parts - Steel Trigger Set for HK416 / M4 GBB Series
VFC Original Parts - Steel Hammer & Disconnector Set for M4 / HK416 GBB Series
VFC Original Parts - Steel Bolt Catch for HK416 / M4 GBB
VFC Original Parts - Magazine Valve for HK416 / M4 GBB Series
VFC CQD Sling Mount
VFC Original Parts - Hop-Up Set for HK416 / M4 GBB Series
VFC M4 GBBR High Speed Buffer & Spring Set

Z-Parts Steel Bolt Carrier for Umarex / VFC HK416 GBB VFC-HK416-005
Z-Parts Z-Parts Steel Loading Nozzle Guide for Umarex / VFC HK416 GBB VFC-HK416-003
Z-Parts Steel Ambi Selector for Umarex / VFC HK416 & HK417 GBB VFC-HK416-008
Z-Parts Steel Barrel Lock for Umarex / VFC HK416 GBB VFC-HK416-004
Z-Parts 14.5 Inch Steel Outer Barrel for Umarex / VFC HK416 GBB VFC-HK416-002

Maple Leaf Daimond Hopup Rubber for Marui / WE GBB Pistol & VSR ( 70 )
Maple Leaf AEG Hop Tensioner ( OHM )
Madbull 363mm 6.03 tightbore barrel
RA-Tech NPAS plastic nozzle set (for VFC M4 416 GBB)

VFC 35rd GBB Magazine for VFC/Umarex/Socom Gear M4/HK416 Rifle (Grey/Black)

All parts listed above can be found from two international retailers. (not going to say their names, but you can google the parts above)

---------------------------------------------------------

Cost:
If you buy a new VFC with few extra mags and put all upgrades above on it (tax, duty, shipping, exchange rate, etc.) it will be somewhere between $1200 ~ 1500 CAD.
I believe WE can do much better in term of cost.

---------------------------------------------------------

Reliability:
I haven't get a chance to game it yet, tested it only, it runs really good and even better after I put in a VFC High Speed Buffer Set. With some of upgrades mentioned above, it should last you a long time.

As cookedham said (he also helped me before I got mine), as long as you maintain your GBBR and mags properly (clean, lube ...), you are fine with either one. It really depends on how much you want to spend. Just my two cents, hope it helps.

This sums up my experience with WE M4, CQBR, SCAR platforms vs VFC HK416 as well.

No one says you can't use one or the other for either purpose (I've seen tuned VFC HK416 around before that run super smooth after countless hours of polishing & fitting different generations of original and aftermarket parts, as well as the "not-officially-WE" full marking WE HK416 built beautifully with steel where steel could go)... but for the purposes of keeping things simple, go with what T@NK said.

Hard to find a platform that gives you the absolute best of everything, out of the box.
