Jeez, when does anyone under 18 need a credit card.... Banks sure know what they are doing, I bet the tobacco industrys wish they could get in on this.

Don't you remember a time when not every kid had a cell phone? And when you had a USB flash drive, you were WIERD? And when video gamers were practically a cult? Sad as it is, mainstreaming ruins things, but it's almost inevitable.

I know, it's scary how the "age" thing creeps up on ya. Worst part is, the older you get, the faster the years seem to slip by. :(

Though I do have to say, the idea of being responsible for paying the CC of a minor is just... horrifying. Dont know how parents can give them to thier kids without the levels of dread keeping them from sleeping

I think that everyone playing airsoft SHOULD have an PAL/FAC. It means that you have basic firearm training.

Take your PAL to an RCMP detachment, and get someone there to verify you (with your PAL and other ID). This, unlike ASC, will be a LEGAL verification.

I'll set something up nationally, and the RCMP member can send me an e-mail regarding your verification, and bam - you're on the list.

The verification will mean "he has a PAL and he's 18+".

This way we use PALs, the RCMP gets involved, and now anyone in the country can get verified.

Maybe this sounds dumb, but you if you are all up for it I'll try and get the ball rolling. I think it'd work.

The "reps" become RCMP. Who are everywhere....

What do you think?

I think its a silly idea.

Honestly.

Let me get something off my mind here. Your system will "limit the amount of idiots coming out to games" as I'm sure someone will tell me. Personally I don't want to limit the number of idiots that come out. Because 80% of those idiots walk away not idiots. And they go on to become decent airsofters. By putting your idea into play you seriously scare off a lot of people. I don't want to go get a PAL or FAC or whatever so that I can play with my glorified toy guns. I'd probably just walk away from airsoft if I had to go through all that BS just to play a game. I wouldn't be alone in this opinion either. If you want to strangle off the game and kill airsoft in Canada, go ahead and try to institute your idea. There are few enough players as it is.

That is all.

The idea has a certain merit. To get your firearms certificate you have to be 18+. You'd be age verified, but an Airsoft Canada verifier still has to see and record the information.
Ergo, we're back where we started.

Besides, why go through all that time and expense to get a piece of paper that essentially has the same information as a birth certificate, or a driver's license?

I don't think that's a very good idea...

Having to own a FIREARMS license for airsoft... That would be relating airsoft closer to a firearm... and I WOULD NOT like the restrictions that they have on real firearms to be implemented on my airsoft gun... No full auto, Magazines capped at 5...

Also, When we're playing airsoft if goes against almost everything you're taught... "Do not point the gun at a person, do not run or do 'manouvers'..."

If anything there should be a new class of lisence for "Airsport Guns" both paintball and airsoft alike... It would cutdown on the kids shooting pedestrians with paintball guns... Same with airsoft...

I think the system we have now is perfectly fine.. We just need more than one person that handles all the incoming verifications...
