Hey, If anyone doesn't have access to them a local store around here just got a tonne of them in...

If you pay for it then pay for shipping I wouldn't have a problem picking one up for you...

They're 159.99 + 13% tax + shipping

Dogfood December 15th, 2007 10:06

Here's a picture of the internals. I got this gun about a month ago, seen it at Bass Pro and thought what the hell for $150 who cares. Putting it side by side with my TM AK you can see the differance is quality. But for the money hey if you get a year out of it then great.

There's no anti-reversal latch!?

Haha, must have been forgotten in the picture. My CM.02 gearbox looks identical to this, and it sure as hell had an anti-reversal latch :D

Hortons Heros December 15th, 2007 12:31

same gears as the echo 1's. Thanks for putting that up.

Dogfood December 15th, 2007 13:08

LOL. Ya the anti-reversal latch was there when I took it apart. Just not in the picture. Just as a side note the spring guide is made from the same clear plastic as the other parts. Kind'a cheap but hey for $150 if it breaks I'll fix it later.

AXe Hound December 17th, 2007 01:22

hay for what it is it runs good!!!

Hortons Heros December 19th, 2007 13:04

I think these guns can last quite a bit longer with some simple work.

Proper lube (what was in there looked like vasaline)

The shimming is terrible, there is TONNES of play in bushings when the gear box is closed. Toss some metal bushings in and shim it proprely.

Cutting down or swaping the spring with something around 300-300fps will stop allot of the wear and tear. With metal bushings and a TM stock spring I am still getting great range and AMAZING ROF.

ShaneF December 19th, 2007 19:54

Anyone know the size of the bushings?

Hortons Heros December 19th, 2007 19:55

standard 6mm.
http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=675
those are the ones I put in.

ShaneF December 19th, 2007 21:19

Thanks.

I plan on prying open my box too and making a few "changes" too. It's not all bad in there and it's certainly cheaper than buying a pre-made mechbox. Plus, airsoft parts Canada is having a sale at the moment so it's really a no-brainer.

Long_Bong December 29th, 2007 13:15

Ak

Got my Kraken and here is the look after a bit of modifcations.

Lower metal part is a must I would say.

http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...a/DSCN2535.jpg

I m planning on a new stock (ak-74 black), a new front grip (that one is too shaky), a new rail for the top with a red dot (closer to the back and the eyes), new barrel (6.03) and ak-74 flash hider.

Dont bother with the optic on Buyairsoftcanada, it really bad...

My only issue is the semi auto is not working very well, not a big issue with the drum mag, but if anyone have a fix, I would appreciate.

Initial shooting outside were impressive also. For the price and the no risk of having the gun jammed at custom, it a great first gun or second gun to bring your friend along. (it would rank well in Customer Report lol).

First field test, next Action Commando game :)

SINN December 29th, 2007 13:21

where's the tums? I just threw up in my mouth.

i keed, i keed...looks great...really..it does.. 8O

Yeah but notice how it doesn't have an egronomic grip, ugly railed foregrips, nor a folding pistol grip. Doesn't have an aimpoint either.

And you never see AK-47s with tactical accessories like that. It's always with a stamped AKM or higher receiver, not AK-47 milled like yours.

The drum is nice though, what brand?

Long_Bong December 29th, 2007 15:16

Star Airsoft for the drum mag.

Indeed, I would have to convert it to AKM or Ak-74.

Any good kit out there?

Well the only true kits would be Inokatsu and Guarder (and that ACM one) I think. Or buy separate parts to get close to what you want. Like I did for my AKM.

mr_gomez January 10th, 2008 23:54

ShaneF January 12th, 2008 11:27

I just pulled mine off.

Drache January 12th, 2008 12:05

Well they are being sold locally here (one left) for $199.99 plus tax. Anyone wants it let me know and I'll go pick it up.

I'm dying to try the Aftermath M4 though...

eagle53 January 12th, 2008 22:02

shitty gun. this thing is pure plastic. sorry to brake it to you but this gun is really really crappy.

I take it that you've never gotten to even fire one or try it out. Please dont make stupid comments without backing it up. 90% of airsoft guns are plastic.

I'll tell you what, lets each bring a STOCK AK, mine a Kraken, yours a TM and we'll have a shoot out, FPS, Distance, Accuracy, price, etc and we'll see who wins.

dodger_me January 12th, 2008 22:06

its mostly metal...

Amos January 12th, 2008 23:44

For anyone that's interested I can get these for 179.99 before taxes.

dodger_me January 12th, 2008 23:55

.....Crappy tire.... Lol

Drache January 13th, 2008 00:15

people need to be careful getting these from Canadian Tire. 75% of the ones from CT people have complained about very low FPS!

Remember people, Aftermath makes TWO different AK's! The Kraken is the good one, the X47 (Stunt Studios) or whatever it's called only shoots 150fps with .12s!

No. The Aftermath Kraken from SIR.

The one that shoots 375 FPS out of the box.

I'm the one that bought it for ancorp.

.:smarties:. January 19th, 2008 21:50

yea my friend bought that movie stunt m16 with the grenade launcher from s.i.r and i had my crosman pulse r72 and mine was 10 times better even though his claimed to have 315 fps heres a tip dont buy the movie effects ones! i just picked up a kraken today and i charged it for 30 mins and used it and it had great fps and it was hardly charged its an excellent gun but does anyone know where i can buy a full metal receiver and wood grips for it?

Get age verified.

Full metal / full wood guns are not meant to be in the hands of minors.

mr_gomez January 20th, 2008 02:39

Dude the aftermath is utter shit! i buy it, the barrel is twisted. i buy a new barrel and install it, everything for 2 hours then the gearbox stops working. i take it apart and fix it and when im putting it back together and the screws get f-ed up and get stuck in the front set, so i destroy the screws with a mini-grinder. so now im stuck with both receivers melted and all of this happens the same week that my xbox 360 breaks down!!!

You realize you can make threads in the receiver if the females are plastic. Just buy a screw that has a bit of a bigger width than the original, screw the screw in (should be hard), and keep screwing it in and out till the feeling of the screw getting in feels lighter and it will place together.
LOL it sounds dirty.

few questions

i got my Aftermath Kraken at a local sports store, paid $125 for it after taxes. im

pretty happy except for the fact that is curves left when i shoot. me and my

bud found that the first sight wobbles (not the one on the barrel), it seems it

has nothing to hold it in place. any one got any suggestions on how to secure it

cheaply without breaking it?:banghead:

any one know a cheap but effective lazer that would mount onto this gun easily? cost?

SINN February 12th, 2008 18:42

anything will mount with duct tape...especially a LAZER..but they cost like what? One billion dollars?

AXe Hound February 12th, 2008 18:44

buy a Universal Barrel Mount and then you can attach any type of lazer sight u want
Universal Barrel Mount 20-30$$$
lazer sight 25-200$$$

LOL it sounds dirty.

That's the worst advice I've ever seen anyone ever give.

This'll cause a HUGE structural failure in the gun... There's a reason they include a washer in a groove...

I have heard from the fellow at the local Penticton club that they will have a store in a few months so I'll likely be getting all my stuff there after they do but until then I want a decent entry level gun that is available in Canada- they recommended Buyairsoft.ca for the short term,

I was looking at the ERKrakenAK47 on Buyairsoft.ca and wanted to confirm a few things:

http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=289

1) This is a decent starter AEG rifle but will come with some shiny plastic that will need painting etc to look decent?

2) As it is a Marui clone I can upgrade it with better accessories and parts, meaning it wont be as good as an actual TM but for a starter gun I can still take it to the next level?

3)any suggested things that I should replace right off?

Thanks for the help- I know everyone hates coddling the newb

Use the search feature. I wrote a whole thread on each question you've asked.

MillerBRo March 26th, 2008 13:35

I did- several posts came up, one was a good write up by a fellow who also has a kraken, but none were a thread started by you lol- :banghead:
I am keen to read what you have to say though- do you remember what the subject thread was called for your post?

MillerBRo March 26th, 2008 23:21

Amos- many many thanks, you are my kind of hobbyist :D That was a brilliant write up and I'm eager to get tinkering and upgrading. Although I was considering just out right buying a high end gun I'm the type who would rather take a mid range pos, convert and upgrade it, and make it out fancy. Basically learn the ins and outs so that in a year or so when I do invest in a high end gun I have the confidence and know how to keep it well maintained and in good working order (there was nothing sadder on the paintball range than the guys who spent $600 on their gear but couldnt fix their marker and had to wait 1-2 hours for the gunsmith to do a 3 minute fix  )

What kind of Battery does this gun take??
is it a large one in the stock? or the AK stick battery?

AXe Hound June 11th, 2008 15:37

its a medium size battery in the stock with small connectors

Kingsix June 11th, 2008 23:36

http://buypaintball.ca/home.php?cat=117
Buypaintball.ca carries krakens and they have a physical store in london ontario.
The only problem is it is not the clear version but the coloured one. I heard that the clear version is better than the coloured version.

warbird June 11th, 2008 23:43

I know a guy with one of those. solid and heavy feel to it. Pretty good gun.

ntljt0816 June 12th, 2008 17:22

but the fps on s.i.r is "way" lower than this http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...e78367f8ae838d

G.I. Joel June 12th, 2008 17:29

Had, one of these, it probably shoots 360fps-ish, Mine was OD and clear. deeent gun really liked it. The internals for the black/tan AK are identical, and the blk/tan is much nicer to look at. DMZ paintaball in St.Catherines, may hava a couple left if anyone is looking for one. the battery it came with lasted for only 2-4hrs in a game sich, but with small batt, connectors on a deecent large battery, this would make a great ak to build on, I know of a couple really nice ones

The internals might be the same but the "1st Gen Krakens" were only black and thus the lemons are mixed in with that group lol. The clear Krakens came and the very end of Gen 1 and with the 2nd Gen.

Amos June 12th, 2008 22:41

the 1st gen krakens can be VERY nice with some TLC. I had one that shot further than most guns that were shooting almost 150 fps above it.

Just got the Kraken, feels very solid, terrible battery but will do when u are in need of a batt when ur hopefulyl normal one goes out.

this thing from the looks of it is a damn good clone, the feel is good, the plastic reciever is thick so hard to break.

Im amazed at the amount of metal partsthis thing has,

great bang for the buck.

picked it up at Bass pro's

Although it wont need it right away, I would suggest getting it reshimmed sp you wont run into problems later on.

Nice to have another Kraken lover :D

Kingsix June 13th, 2008 00:26

They have krakens in stock now at basspro in TO?

BORDENSNIPER June 13th, 2008 00:48

unfortunately not, since i had this one on hold for a while and it was aparenly the last one they weill be ordering for the month.

call them and ask, see if u can order through them.

Thanks for the advice Drache, I forgot to mention I will be in the next month adding a new nozzle, shims, spring guide and maybe a selector.

A metal body (choose wisley preferrably a tm comatible one) will do it good, but not necessary this thing is just like the TM's and just wait till it breaks or anything befire making the cash investment.

All in all at this moment I have bought two last hybrid assult rifles from Bass pro's, the TF-16 which u can find a review and pictures of in this review section and the Kraken, Both will have the same upgrades i mentioned above, and both in all honesty will last for quiet the while if u take care of them properly.

maybe this is even the future of airsoft in Canada since all this bull about metal and black guns is goin on, these Hybrids are the perfect package (needing some work ofcourse).

cheers

You have to be 18 to buy an airsoft gun from a store in Canada.

Try paintball.

Yea you do have to be 18 and up. But ill still give you the prices. At Bass Pro Shop they are $130 you can order them at sirmailorder.com for $160 usually anywhere else they're like $220

Bass Pro at Vaugh Mills had two Krakens yesterday when I was there. $129.99 each. New packaging too. No longer are they in those annoying plastic wrap things! Very professional looking box with a couple plastic windows to see your clear-and-OD beast.

pawscal July 9th, 2008 10:21

129$ is cheap, hmmm new project?

Coma July 9th, 2008 11:17

Do 'er up Pawscal!

In other news, my long-dead Prowin hop-up was recently installed in a Kraken along with a Madbull 6.03 tightbore barrel. So far no issues! This is after over a year of the unit sitting among shattered pistons and shredded gears, given up for useless.

My cousin (he's 19) was thinking about getting the Kraken from S.I.R but I'm wondering if it's 1 gen or the 2 gen one.

Dusti69 July 10th, 2008 01:39

how can you tell?
well i know i had gotten the apparent latest one that real good by its awesome performance

Sarky July 10th, 2008 02:42

Oh ok thanks. I'm probably guessing that it's the 2nd gen

kalnaren July 10th, 2008 08:23

you know that is REALLY compatable

on another note, how durable is theshell of the full metal mech box? do you think it would take high power upgrades well? also what kind of cleaning/basic upgrades do you have to do with this gun before use?

Gambut July 24th, 2008 21:46

3 more aftermath Krakens were received at Bass Pro Shops today. Not sure how many are left.

On another note, Bass Pro is ordering the Aftermath Lycao which will be $130 or $140. They carry the Aftermath Broxa, but that is backordered and it was priced at $115.

Btw, the Toronto store does ship stuff out across Canada. You just need to pay for shipping. I'm not sure if they ship airsoft though since I don't know if they want proof of age.

Drache July 24th, 2008 22:43

$115 for the Broxa yet $130 for the Lycoan? Lulwut?!

BORDENSNIPER July 24th, 2008 22:50

are u sure theyre getting the Broxas?

i asked them yesterday they said they never had them and never will. hopefully the idiot who told me was wrong (the guy with the attitude)...if there will infact be broxas, il be spreading them cross canada just like the krakens :p
