did your's say it shot 330 on the box, mine did but the web site says it shoots 420, whats the real fps?

TokyoSeven February 14th, 2008 17:36

I gotta be honest, mine didnt come with a box at all. It did pierce both sides of a pop can though, and one shot severly dented the bottom of one coke can and another went through, but only just. So the fps at best guess when I first got it would be in the area of 375+ for fps. Currently I have a stock TM spring in there and its shooting a nice low consistent 275 -+3 according to my madbull chrony.

DocMailloux February 15th, 2008 18:04

It is 420 to 450 fps but with the nuzzle you can take it down to 320 fsp, If you combine nuzzle ring. The only thing you will have to play semi-auto oter wise the nuzzle will not be effective after two BB's went tru, the nuzzle will stay open since the rate of fire is fast.

Im assuming your talking about some form of velocity reducer, personally I would prefer to just swap out the spring.

Just received my HK416, stock's tabs have one missing... probably gunna invest in that Hurricane stock, and probably their batteries. Issa spaghetti of-a mess-a in-a there.

TokyoSeven February 15th, 2008 19:24

I highly recommend the hurricane stock.

What is the barrel length of the JG Hk 416? In considering swapping the barrel :)

I'd like a longer tightbore. That would help me too.

400 FPS is pretty hard on a stock V2 gearbox, Systema clone or not. I'd personally prefer installing a lighter spring than a velocity reducer. While it may reduce the muzzle velocity to acceptable gaming levels, it does nothing to help manage the pounding the muzzle of the gearbox gets from that powerful a spring. That's what I'll more than likely do when I receive mine. I was considering installing a stock TM spring, but will most likely go slightly heavier to get into the 320-340 FPS range.

TokyoSeven February 19th, 2008 12:07

Hey Crunch, a stock TM isnt bad, personally its a little to weak actually and for the the motor which is supposed to be some form of high torque clone it would be a little fast on a 9.6. Essentially if you try stock TM I recommend an 8.4V battery.

I personally put a guarder SP90 into mine, on 8.4V batts it runs fine, and on a 9.6 I found it doesnt run to high either.

Long_Bong February 19th, 2008 12:26

Would the barrel length be 363mm?

The 280-ish performance is too weak, IMO. I would rather have a more functional 320 to 340-ish range. I'll probably (in the short term) use the battery that came with the 416 until I put in my next Redwolf or eHobby Asia order, then I'll get a better battery and the required spring.

I'm liking the Prometheus nonlinear springs, so would probably grab an MS100SP instead of the 110 I have in my C8 and about to install into my M15. The 110 gives me about 360 in my C8 (before the mechbox blew apart). I have another one that I'll install in my M15 rifle shortly and it should give me about 380-390 or so in that gun. The slightly weaker 100 spring should put me in the sub 350 range with the short 10" barrel of the 416.

The inner barrel length of my 416 is somewhere in the area of 11.4 inches.

So the inner barrel measurement in MM would be around 285-290ish.

I agree a stock TM spring is to weak for the 416, but not weak in the same sense as how you see it. For in door games, 280 is fine, Ive even played outdoor with a stock TM running 280, no issues in range as far as I was concerned. As stated above, with the supposed clone stronger motor, a weaker spring would be to easy to comepress and such a high rate of ROF would wear down the internals.

I wish I could say I had experience with Prometheus springs, Ive only ever had one, and it was purple. That is all I can say.

Crunchmeister February 20th, 2008 10:26

Yeah, I understand what you mean. A weak spring will translate into a ridiculous ROF. But still in terms of BB velocity, I like to have something that travels to its target a bit faster for outdoor games. I like to keep distance between my target and myself if possible. And it will allow me to use heavier, more stable BBs too.

We have no indoor facilities around here, so the likelihood I'll be playing indoors in the forseeable future is pretty slim. Still though, I'm more than happy to get my 416 in the 340-ish range for outdoors. I'm no power whore that's for sure...
