Echo1 M240B MG
Any takers?
http://www.popularairsoft.com/files/...cho1_M240B.jpg They are finally available, guestimate is about $1000 landed, depending on shipping costs. Who wants one!? |
hells yeah I want one... at $800 tops though.
|
yea... $1000 seems a bit high... $800 (though also hight) seems reasonable :)
|
Hehe I'd like $800 too :P. Shipping these beasts is brutal though.
|
Looks sweet ! But hey, I don't have a 1000 $ !!!
|
I wish... MMMM Daddy Likes
|
purrrrrrrdy but me thinks it needs a wood kit:D
|
How much does it weigh? Because if it's less than 8kg I don't even wanna look at it lol
|
pending a review

As others have said... pending a positive review, I am very interested.
|
well I DO have $1000 to spend but aeg support weapons should never be over 1k. they can be exactly $1000 but I would never buy one for more. just because sometime their great and sometimes they suck fieldability wise. even if thier replicas of the same gun but made by different companies. no matter what support weapons seem to be case by case individually. thats why anything over 1k, especially Echo1 is silly. but for 1k I'd buy one

Also,what is QD? |
I'm assuming aluminium. QD = Quick detach
|
OK,thanks. For some reason quick detach didn't pop into my head.
|
it can be made of bacon and unicorns and shoot rainbows, doesnt matter if the gun is crap. Pending a review i might have to buy my first support weapon
|
Just ordered one here in the US from the distributor. It says it's a pre-order, but when it comes in I'll post up a review.

something like this needs to be gas powered. might as well get a Beta C mag for an M4 AEG

They said it should be 400 to 450 fps with a .2g BB out of the box. I don't have any idea yet on gearbox (quick change spring, is it like the M249 gearbox, etc.) I also am wondering if the box mag would have anything in common with the A&K M249 series.
|
Well the inokatsu is without a doubt the best built and most awesome M240 out there, and yet it still cant hit the broadside of a barn at 20 meters.....
Don't really wanna spend upwards of $2500 on an AEG and have to drop another $400 of internals into it Atleast with the Echo M240 your not spending $3000 to make a good LMG, probably less than half that |
It is indeed in stock and should ship out tomorrow. I am at a customer in Boston, so I probably won't get to it until a week from today. I will post up photos and a mini review here when I do. I also picked up a Systema A to Z motor, not for the 240, but just because I wanted to know more about it.

Box mag mount (wires are a sound unit for winding):

FPS?
Rate of fire? Weight? general build quality? |
Two springs are included. The one that came in the gun measures between 390 and 400 fps on the chrono at close to 20 rps. The other one I swapped in measures 470 to 480 fps at close to 15 rounds per second. Yes, I said *4*80! close to 8kg without BB's or battery. I charged the battery at 800 MAh because the little wall charger lists that as it's output. Batteries from the include 9.6v large are non-labeled cells (I cut the battery apart since I have lots of batteries around.)
|
whats your impressions of the build quality?
any peek inside the mechbox? wiring? issues that you can see coming up? |
That would not be cool if the box magazine got wet.
Looks like a fair quality item on the outside though. |
I would definitely Gun Tape The fuck out of that box mag... that or make one out of plastic...
|
its for the realism, but i do foresee an issue with durability....
a plastic one, or lots of duct tape may remedy that. |

|
Or get a real steel one and modify it, that's what G&P did with their box mag =D

|
M60/M249 100 round cardboard boxes can be purchased for $3.00 each, so I'm not too worried about it - except for the labor of changing one out.
|
Wow, can you be cheaper than a CARDBOARD box mag?
Yeesh. |
Quote:
A used news paper. A used sock. No cardboard box mag at all and in the instruction manual it details how to construct one out of the box that the gun came in. |
Quote:
|
I won't disassemble the one that comes with the gun, but I ordered a pack of real steel ones, and when they come in I will make a cut out template. That way anyone can either make more cardboard ones or make something out of plastic. One guy who bought one from me is even making one out of galvanized ducting (since he is an HVAC tech.)
|
my oh my that is a sexy MG
|
I took the orange cap off of the flash hider. I actually took a screw driver to the front of it just to test how solidly it was glued on and it came right off. I also added a belt of fake rounds to spice it up. Now I just need to make a tripod mount...
http://www.baltimorecs.com/m240b/m240b-24.jpg Without heat shield: http://www.baltimorecs.com/m240b/m240b-25.jpg |
looks very nice without the heat shield....
|
Quote:
|
Yeah, the heat shield doesn't really seem useful in airsoft. I also don't really see a need for the forward rails (they are just on the sides) but it would be cool to mount a really big tac light--just because.
|
i would love to see a wood stock and all the rails gone. Make it look like a C6

after further looking into the gun, I have to say $1000 in canada is worth it. IF i had the money to burn I would.
|
Echo1 has already released all of the parts separately, so you can buy an entire spare magazine, just the magazine servo, the aluminum body, etc. It took A&K two years to start releasing spare magazines for their M60 line.
|
Seeing as these are $750 in the US, $1000 for this gun to my door from a Canadian retailer sounds very fair.
Also its an echo1 so you know its going to be good quality. I have heard nothing but good about this gun from people that have it |
do we know if there will be aftermarket part support? i love it all but the plastic of the stock looks reallllly chintzy.
hm, as an aside, does anyone know if real steel m240 wooden stocks are available anywhere? |
There's no picture showing up on my iPhone, but maybe here:
http://http://www.bbdragon.com.tw/pr...11/language/en |
$1000CAD for a $750USD gun?
Unless it's being brought in at over 430fps nobody is going to waste their time bringing that in, you'll have to get it yourself. |
Shouldn't be a problem, as it comes with a 400FPS spring installed and a 480 as well. The retailer could just install the 480 FPS spring in it.

NO. I'm saving up for a minigun.

So,around the end of the March sometime.Maybe this mystery buyer
will post his/her views?:D |
I hope so.
|
damn this thing is on my wishlist :S
|
Besides that group order customer, I already have one that is arriving this thursday or friday. :D
|
I can't wait for all the sales thread in the future of ppl selling the M240 b/c it "doesn't suit my play style" or "it's too heavy."
|
Redwolf quotes the gun and box at 50lbs...lol
|
Quote:
Wish I could afford one of these, I'd remove all that lame rails and heat shield, put some damn wood on it along with the flashhider that SHOULD be on FN MAGs |
What type of mechbox does this take?
Same as a 249? |

I ordered the 240 from Eeyore, beyond excited to see it. I'm not much of a gun tech yet but I'll post my impressions when I have it. From what I hear (and I'm hoping it's true, haha) the quality is quite alright. One negative I've heard is the silver part of the feed tray is made of monkey metal, so we'll see how long that part lasts.
Thanks again Tom. |

By the way I was on the opposite team as the Polar Star guys, so it wasn't pretty for us! |
I don't understand this MEGA rounds per second, why don't you guys
buy a super soaker or garden hose? The rate of fire for a C6 is 650to 1000rpm or at max 16rps. |

They were there to test the setup and push it to the breaking point, but it didn't break.
|
Redwolf says "The weapon alone comes in at around 7 kg / 16 lbs but fully loaded with magazine, battery and BBs it skyrockets to a supermassive 10 kg / 22lbs. A combination of that weight with its length of 125cm / 49 Inches clearly makes it one of the most hardcore skirmishable support weapons in Airsoft. "
so yer it actually is pretty decent to skirmish/ milsim with :) but even so, running around with that thing gets tiring and i think mounting it on top of a truck would be cool though :P |
The real deal comes in at 11KG,and if you have a spare barrel 3KG
200rnds link 5KG =19KGS. Even without the spare barrel, that is still 16KGs. As for the rps, some ppl want to play speed ball and not airsoft:rolleyes: I think I'll look into the inokatsu one. |
I will have to weigh mine with battery and BBs, but I use a Sky Lipo 4000 MAh 7.4v 25C and have taken off the front rail and heat shield. The rail unit alone weighs 1/2 pound.

Thanks for the beautiful information. when you say kit, do you mean the drop in HPA box, or the box pre-installed into the 240? If its the pre- installed, do you know if they have plans to sell the drop in box separately (for obvious importation into Canada reasons :P ) I have been waiting on the polar star HPA boxes for a few months now - I am VERY excited see them finally hitting the market soon. |
Drop in kit only with air rig and everything.
|
Quote:
Thats a bit on the higher side then I was expecting though , but its air rig too.... GREAT DEAL! What size tank? Have they updated their website with all this info? EDIT While poking around google, I found this eagle driver....... I hate you :P Echo1 M240 Bravo (FN MAG) - Zero In - Airsoft Forums Did that MOSFET come already installed by echo 1? |

After using it at LZ on the weekend I have to say this AEG is quite impressive here are some PROS and CONS
PROS - Affordable trigger happy rebrand - Easy access Hop up unit - Mosfet built in - Decent box mag, that can keep up with the bb hungry box - Quality full aluminum unit - Easy access mech box (modified version 7) - Ridiculously resilient construction, after 9 bags of .25 bastard there is barely any wear and tear on the piston unit it even drained my 12.8V madbull LiFe battery CONS - Short inner barrel why? a Madbull 650mm cures that issue - TM look alike rebranded short eg1000 motor, powerfull but strain under heavy spring - wiring are a tad too long, for the tight space in the back - Stock are a bitch to put on due to the paint job if you are not carefull you'll pinch the wires running from the mosfet to the motor and battery - Weird piston and shitty plastic cylinder nozzle assembly (Easily remedied by swapping for a version 2 cylinder head) - The Cylinder/nozzle and piston head is a mix bag of combined version 2 and 3 and some custom shaved piston (still trying to figure it out) - Mosfet unit don't like prolonged 12.8V usage, short burts OK but not long ass burst. |
Just ordered one... Will let you know how it looks... I heard the carrying handle needed a stronger spring so the barrel would not detach by accident while carrying the MG around... I plan to use this MG in games as ground support AND to mount it in my Ferret Mk2! It will look much better with a proper MG in the turret!
|
Haven't had a problem with my carry handle... I lugged my 240 around all weekend with it at Mason Relic 3 last year.
|
BTW, I received the beast and it works great! Only problem so far is the fuse that blew but it is easy to replace! There is no manual with the gun and you have to download one from the Echo1 website... Lame for a 1000$ gun... Plus, the manual is in non-printable format!!
I'm tempted to buy a second mag unit to make myself a smaller ammo bag using a USGI 50 rounds 'nutsack' as a base... The current mag box is bulky and sticks out far to the left... I removed the front rails on mine to make it look more like the original FN MAG and the front sling-hook as well so it would fit my Ferret turret... It fits like a glove and makes the armored car looks so much better!! It is installed and removed in less than a minute too... The range is quite good with 0.25g bb's... More then 50 meters. Accuracy is still OK at 50m. I still have to try it in a game! Probably in Sherbrooke in the coming weeks! I'll need a big case to house the M240! There are some at Prefair in Beloeil that are almost big enough to house it without removing the barrel but not quite... All in all, a goog buy so far! |
