Typically all seconds I have seen have had near impossible to find mistakes unless they showed you.

I have a couple seconds that as far as I can tell are perfect. The Naga I got had a tag showing where the flaw was and it was still a little tricky to spot. You don't need a mil ID either, just some places like to run a tight ship. In all honesty, this is the way to go for getting Arcteryx stuff. Some places have the $750 Alpha jacket for $425.

Well thats good to hear! Thanks for the help guys. I wasn't sure if the id was req or not as DSTac has the disclaimer at the top of the page. Yeah, I'm just trying to hold myself back from the $330 Alpha AT haha. If I didn't just give SKD Tac $300 , and have to go back to being a poor student this fall I would have that thing in my shopping cart and on its way.

Karma, how do you like the Naga? Have you tried it in the rain? I'm just curious how well the water resistant material works.

I was at the outlet in vancouver, my alpha was 350$. Its flawless other than a funky colored zipper on the inside.

if i order from the states, Arcteryx LEAF stuff isnt ITAR right?

Why would you order from the states though? If you order from here, then it's local through and through. :)

I personally wouldn't buy from the states. If I'm going to support a company, I would rather it be a Canadian one. Not to mention that they have very compatible prices, cheaper shipping, and no customs agents to go through.
But hey, thats just me.

And I believe they are controlled as most sites say they will not ship outside the states due to ITAR

I thought export restrictions outside of the US are due to dealer agreements with Arc'teryx, not from ITAR.

cheaper (on sale!) and the item I am looking for isn't really available here (for that price anyway!)

Some military related items are restricted by the ITAR.
Some military related items are not restricted by the ITAR but some sellers thought they are.
Some military related items are restricted by the ITAR but some sellers don't give a ????.
Some military related items... God knows if they are restricted by the ITAR.
Plus the dealer agreement, and other Non-ITAR related issues......

^^^Seriously.....no one understands ITAR. I doubt the people who came up with it understand it. All it does it make Americans more paranoid and instead of working with it, decide not to bother with international sales at all. How many places down there won't even ship outside the US?... Besides, Canada is so insignificant when compared to the US market.

Call me greedy, but I was hoping Millbrook was going to stay pretty quiet on here. I want all the seconds to myself. I've bought other items from them and have been very happy with their service. Love supporting Canadian when they have cool stuff and great service.

I have couple of those seconds.

Living in Vancouver it is pretty easy for me to go to their factory store.

Sometimes, these jackets are " Sample " or size that no one wants !

I still remember the time one fellow on ebay said to me "sorry, I can't ship these magazine pouches to Canada because of the ITAR"... Come on! I already got a real OTV vest and a bunch of bayonets from US, and now the pouches are too dangerous/sensitive to export?

It's cool that Millbrook is selling factory seconds but I think Arc'teryx is holding out on a lot of stuff.

Yeah, I would definitely love to take a trip to the outlet store in Vancouver one of these days. Too bad that won't be happening any time soon :(

Its funny, the same jacket that I bought was in grande prairie for 700$, it took 150$ to drive down and back in the wife's car, we stayed at her aunts, but a cheap hotel would have added another 100$, plus another couple of buck for food, I still managed to get it cheaper than at home

Oh I'm pretty sure I would make a trip out of it. No way I would drive 1700km's just for a few hundred bucks off a coat haha


Wait a minute...this reminds me of a time my fiancé drove there for a LuLuLemon sale. WTF?!?

we went to the lululemon store aswell, haha. and we made a week of it, but the only problem is that the store has no consistancy, i was talking to a kid that worked there and he said that they occasionally get leaf gear in. That being said there was a lot of Coyote brown jackets with black zips available that werent leaf but were still sweet deals. There is the chance you show up on the wrong week and all you find is blaze orange jackets

You guys need to find someone in N. Van to act as an eye on the ground for stuff like this.

Went to the factory/sample sale once and damn.... If I had money then I would have spent all of it on their gear. I try to avoid that place because I know that I'll be longing to buy all their gear. (Y U make such good stuff I always want Arc'teryx?)

Also very hard to find the mistakes on their jackets, either that or I didn't look hard enough.

Just wondering if anyone here has experience with the Arc'teryx LEAF Alpha Jacket. I picked one of the factory seconds up in an XL, and tried it on today to make sure it fits before I go ahead and wrap it up for Christmas (yes I bought myself a christmas gift). Before I bought it, I tried on other Arc'teryx jackets at a local store and from their sizing went with the XL. Now one would think the sizing wouldn't be much different, wrong. Turns out the bottom is tapered and ends about 3" below my belly button and looks ridiculously short on me. The rest of the jacket fits great and looks to be a real piece of quality kit. I just cant understand why it is so short in the front. Im wondering if others have this same problem, and if an XXL would be a better choice...or if I just have a freakishly long torso and should be looking at a different product.

The XL is short to match the rest of the system (it's just one layer).

Get the XXL it should be long enough, that what I wear size wise I am 6'2" and 260. It goes around the gut and still goes below the belt line :D

The Alpha is short in the torso to allow for the usage of climbing harnesses. If you are looking for a longer cut then the Alpha parka is more your speed. The Alpha jacket is designed for a specific application

I have one. They are short. As pugs said, for climbing harnesses, for duty belts, for belt holsters, radios, all of that. It's a professionally-active jacket, so it's cut to suit that. On me at least mine covers me enough (i.e. gets below the top of my pants), and whatever top I have on under it keeps me from getting a draft

Ok, thanks guys! I would be fine if it had ended at just below the top of my pants, I just have about and inch gap between the top of my pants and the end of the coat. Damn my freakishly long torso!
That parka seems like it would be the next best option.
Forgot to add that I'm 6'5 240lb
