well me and a friend are planning on building a airsoft tank. but we were looking for some pics on google but came up dry so i'm asking for players for pics so we can get some ideas for the tank.

yanhchan March 21st, 2006 08:10

airsoftforum.com has a few!

wolphsnyper March 21st, 2006 08:21

Try here http://www.armoredfistpaintball.com/tank_news.htm they had some home made tanks

BloodSport March 21st, 2006 08:42

WGC and Redwolfe have them as well. Also a few retailers have them in stock, Canadian Airsoft in Grande Prairie and Xtreme Precision if I'm not mistaken.

You mean a prop? Or one of those remote control bb shooting tanks? Seems like you're causing some confusion... :???:

CDN_Stalker March 21st, 2006 09:17

Maybe they are even considering a Wargo type vehicle, Recce_God. Hehe

BloodSport March 21st, 2006 09:37

Well a prop would just be a prop of a regular Tank. While an airsoft tank would shoot BB's, doesnt seem confusing.....

Agreed. I think the poster may be refering to a prop tank, cause he mentioned him and his buddies wanna make one.

I was looking into this a while back and found that the paintballers had made a splash in the tanks scene. Try looking for paintball tanks.
Sorry I didn't keep any of the links.

An APC would be more interesting i'de think. Maybe a LAV III?

The Saint March 21st, 2006 15:13

I'm still not sure if attack-beacer meant little toy tanks or full scale prop.

Oh, in that case, just use pictures of any real world tank you fancy. If you want to start simple, I recommend the S-Tank; it doesn't have a turret.

Shugart March 21st, 2006 20:41

First, what is an Airtank?
Second, what type of tank are you looking for (MBT, Light, Recon?)
Third, isn't a full scale tank kind of expensive?

Airtank!!! Common! Airsoft--airtank. Like a paint tank.

BTW, the Wargo, we have two like that now. Working on gun turrets for each.

Greylocks March 21st, 2006 21:14

Hehe, got to love the Wargo. But seriously, there's a decent amount of cash involved in this. Argos are not cheap, neither are hovercraft or ATVs.

attack-beaver March 21st, 2006 21:15

well we were planning on making it a armoured support tank. it would only hold a driver and a gunner it would look kinda like a cross of a WWII german half track in the body and a canadian G-wagon really. when we start work on the tank and have some drawings i'll post'em and you can see what i'm talking about.

DoctorDeath March 21st, 2006 21:37

That paintball Tiger tank is sweet. WW2 scenario anyone?

attack-beaver March 22nd, 2006 01:26

would anyone what to give up there john deere gator for free to help advance airsoft play???.

Dracheous March 22nd, 2006 11:00

don't use a Gator, try to find one of those Polaris Rangers. They're built higher and already have a roll bar to secure your armor plating too. Aswell if your going for the "Half track" look. The Roll cage is around the two seats in the front where the cargo space in the back is open, so you could weld on a couple bars and use some tarping and cover it.

The problem with the Gator is that there is no real solid body for you to build off of. Aslo because the box has a lift on it, you'd have to build the for and after parts seperate.

My Uncle bought one of each for the Golf Course he recently built ((White Tail Golf Course out in Eganville)). He'd told me that the Ranger out performned the Gator in ever respect save for the Gator had more pulling power. The Gator is also more prone to getting bogged down in the mud because its so low. He also told me that the Ranger was cheaper to buy then the Gator and was better on fuel.

Hello, I was reading your thread and I just wanted to say that I'm saving my cash at the moment to take on a tank project of my own. I've got plans on the table of taking a skuzy old taylor/dunn model b electric cart and make it a scaled down M2 Bradley. I'm hoping that once i have it built I'll be able to crame a driver a gunner and about 4 or 5 pasengers. I live in a mostly desert area and most of the airsoft fields i go to are desert and dirt roads so I'm prity sure i wont have any bogging down problems with the taylor/dunn, With the addition of the tracks I plan on adding a good foot and a half to the body width.

quikstrike April 21st, 2006 03:36

I'd love to make an APV. Hmmm *ponders.
