How many Vsr mags?

Hey, I know lately with all the dumb questions that have been asked lately this isn't exactly refreshing, but i couldn't find an answer.. So for all you people with vsr's, m700's and l69's, how many magazines would you carry on you in your loadout? I was thinking 5 sounded like a good number seeing how that would be around 150 rounds, but maybe thats over kill.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

well, i'm not a sniper user. but I think with 75 rds you should be all right. Even with my AEG I can make about three rouds with a single hicap mag (~400rds)

immortalundead March 26th, 2008 02:27

well, since its a sniper rifle, one, maybe 2 magazines should do. from what ive read and heard on the site, most snipers only shoot of a couple rounds a game, its not about sending tons of rounds downrange with a sniper.

Shrapnel[Op-For] March 26th, 2008 02:41

well, with some of the games lasting an hour or more, I dont know about just two.. I wont be the main sniper mind you..

Cushak March 26th, 2008 02:43

I carry just two mags, so a total of 60 rounds. I've never had to reload the mags, but I haven't used JUST the aps for day long milsims. For those, I'd probably use about 200-300 in a day if I was pulling squad marksman support, much, MUCH less (maybe 30-60) if I was pulling recon/scout

Shrapnel[Op-For] March 26th, 2008 02:45

ya, I wouldn't use it for a milsim, i got a rifle for that, just for regular games.

Cushak March 26th, 2008 03:52

Take just two at the start, see how it goes. No sense in overkill on the mags, if you end up only using a couple. You can always buy more. I'd say (if you can) carry how many you need per game (on average), and than carry one more for sticky situations.

No_Way March 26th, 2008 03:56

2, only because i dislike reloading my mag. One mag is enough for me but i have 2 just in case. I prefer carrying more mags for my back-up than my sniper.

Kos-Mos March 26th, 2008 09:29

+1

I did all day at QuickPass3 last summer with only 3 mags.
Never used the third... just to be safe and not run out in the middle of a firefight.
And I was marksman/squad support... Just take the shots no one else can...

AngelusNex March 26th, 2008 09:45

(not a sniper) I'd say though that you should be filling out your vest with mags for your back up though.

CDN_Stalker March 26th, 2008 09:51

Typically for me, 50rds for my M24 (two mags) or 30 rounds for my M700 (three mags). I dont' see much reson to loadmyself down with rifle mags, and it takes nothing to have a small bag of BBs on you and handload during slow periods, like respawn. Besides, I never use a sniper rifle as my primary (zero people should), it's always a special use weapon.

I carry 5 Type 96 mag and I can only go through 2-3mags.

Shrapnel[Op-For] March 26th, 2008 20:16

cool, thanks for all the help, I'm thinking just having one in the gun, and two spare should be good.. my backup will be a pistol because there is no way I am hauling around my heavy m4 with mags as a backup...

Kimbo March 26th, 2008 20:35

Make sure your pistol has good range and accuracy if it's your only secondary.

3 mags sounds like lots, especially since vsr mags hold so many rounds.

Amos March 26th, 2008 20:43

I carry 4 L96 mags.. and go through... about.. 8-9 mags a game..

I don't play a "Sniper" role.. I play a designated marksman in a squad..

Shrapnel[Op-For] March 26th, 2008 21:14

ya, i wouldn't be playing the "sniper" role either, like what you said, a designated marksman.

tony123 March 27th, 2008 01:30

I find that 1 30 round mag is good for my vsr but i have an extra just in case. For my g17 though i have two 25rd mags and planning on ordering another 1-2 just for good measure.

Slimmy March 27th, 2008 09:56

I only play a sniper's role and I find 2-3 mags is enough to last me a 6 hour game. I'm usually only trying to take-out targets that are out of reach from other players, if their easy enough to hit I'll tell someone nearby, but 2-3 mags works fine for myself. On the other hand I've seen people play with about 6-7 mags and just waste alot of rounds.

m700murder June 12th, 2008 17:24

my friend is getting a vsr-10 and he is getting 3 magizeans with it. thats 90 rounds+ what you carry in a speed loader (100 rounds) thats good for a day mission.

CDN_Stalker June 12th, 2008 18:34

Two 24rd mags is the most I carry for my CA M24.

As far as using a GBB as a back up, best thing you can do is dial in your hop up for 0.30g BBs and up, and learn to shoot it that way out to 150ft. Is easy, and will work, as long as you have the mindset to do so. Aka. use 0.36g aim for the head at 120ft and end up hitting the chest. Works in my KSC G19, so why not, have gotten kills out to 140ft with it. Two things to reinforce this; 1/ GBB has limited rounds; 2/ heavier BBs will penetrate brush better than lighter ones, will hit harder and make the target feel the hits better. The less shots you have to take at a person, the more 'stored kills' you can contain in your gun, meaning, the less ammo useage you can get away with per mag.

ThunderCactus June 12th, 2008 22:02

a DM carries a DMR, not a sniper rifle:p
So technically your a sniper IN a squad lol
I tried out a sniper rifle, really liked it, got about 1 kill for every 2 rounds. Only used 12 rounds since it was a short scrim, but for longer games I'd carry 6-8 mags. Not because I need the ammo, but because the mags are light, take up very little room, and I'd rather have the ammo and not need it than NOT have the ammo and really need it lol

Dr_Tinshnipz June 12th, 2008 22:17

3 25 round VSR mags.

Shrapnel[Op-For] June 12th, 2008 22:30

woah m700, i already got my gun and mags a while ago...

Amos June 12th, 2008 22:31

New setup:

4 mags

1 30 round
3 55 round

When you're shooting a stock VSR-10.. you often have to shoot people more than once.
