Where is that sorbothane thread?

I can't seem to find it. It was in the upgrades and modification section.

Schlyder December 8th, 2008 09:34

it's called * Stop your gearbox from breaking* by Tirador I believe.

KNIVEZS December 8th, 2008 09:42

http://www.airsoftcanada.com/search....archid=2083619

tried searching it but cant seem to find it.

TriChrome December 8th, 2008 10:09

It's been deleted from what I can tell. My first post on this forum was there and that post is now listed as not ever being made...

zone 69 December 8th, 2008 10:27

Yup it,s gone. If you want a sorbo pad just go here to buy one. http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1023

Azuki December 8th, 2008 11:02

*hijack* on a semi-related note, anyone know where to get Sorbo sheets. Also anyone know how Sorbo acts when BBs are shot at it?

Auhydride December 8th, 2008 11:06

It looks like it was deleted, anyone know why?

Azuki, I think you are going to use sorbothane as a bb target right?

T_A_N_K December 8th, 2008 11:11

I think it was because of the new retailer rules, however it should have still been archived.

Sorbothane is made in the United States. Why buy it from Japan?
No wonder you paid so much.

Aye... but it looks like it'll be too expensive to be worth it. 24"x24" sheets are over 100 bucks. I wish I knew how to mold plastic and had access to the sticky stuff they coat targets with... could do soo many things with them... *sigh*

anyways copied from external source:

The greatest of all shock absorbers... one pad that rules them all!

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ORBO/solbo.jpg

"SORBOTHANE, a proprietary visco-elastic polymer material that exhibits properties of both liquids (viscous solutions) and solids (elastic materials). It is polyether-based, polyurethane material or a combination of the properties of rubber, silicone, and polymers. It can absorb shock, and isolate vibration from an unusual high amount of energy from a spring. While many materials exhibit one of these characteristics, Sorbothane combines all of them in a stable material with a long fatigue life." - ARS(Japan)

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...491212sor1.jpg

Japanese engineers designed the SORBO pads that were used specifically for Airsoft, and wasn't really known until a few airsoft enthusiasts tried to test and proved the benefits of the "small wonder"... the result was exceptional. The SORBO pad has proven its worth. Its damping characteristics and cheap price can be a substitute for the silent piston heads (for the "silent operators"), and it eliminates the need for reinforced gearboxes when using High rated springs...

A sound test by Matt Lawson reveals the properties of SORBO at work..

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...O/audacity.jpg
"To measure performance I used the Audacity audio recording program and a boom microphone. To compare the performance difference I recorded the sound of my AEG before installation. Being careful not confound the results, I left the microphone in the same place from the initial recording and placed the AEG where I could easily replace once the installation was complete. Now since I do not have a video camera, I could not leave a microphone out in the yard to record the noise coming from the front of the AEG. This would simulate the noise heard by a target player. My recordings are from the left side of my AEG and are taken from within 24” of the gearbox... The performance of the sorbo pad was effective. I noticed a deeper tone in the piston head on cylinder head impact."

Actual product label, Manufactured by ARS - Airsoft Research Syndicate.

http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/d...ORBO/sorbo.jpg

The ARS Sorbo Pad is already becoming popular in Canada, US, Indonesia, Finland, Turkey... and soon, Philippines.

Note: Laylax(Japan) also manufactures SORBO replacement pads

Hope that helps a bit :s

Tirador December 8th, 2008 20:16

Sorbothane is made in Japan too. As far as i know, only England, Japan and USA have a formula of this material.

FYI. Sorbothane was invented in 1963 by a British Chemist in England. Since Japan and USA have a Space Research Program, they formulated their own sorbothane for their own interest and usage.

Try to fabricate a high precision cutter then you will know how much will it cost. ;)

Too bad McMaster will not ship to Canada unless you already have an existing account.

Amos should refrain on this. he is a good buyer of KSC gbb replacement parts.
there was a time he bought a bunch of KSC replacement parts and i gave him a free sorbo sheet for his KSC TMP.

anyway, whatever happend to that sorbothane thread just leave it that way. it was a part of the sorbothane-airsoft history though.

just a wild guess. because my age is not verified. and nobody can verify my age here in Japan that is why the sorbothane thread is being removed.

for those who follow that thread from all over the world.
I'm sorry guys you might not see that thread again.

ILLusion December 8th, 2008 21:08

That doesn't change your retail price on it.

If someone else bought the sheet from you, they would be posting the same thing - Amos doesn't have any fault in it.

its been a while of manufacturing a sorbo pads. but only one guy got a sorbo sheet from me it was Amos and nobody else.

Amos December 8th, 2008 21:28

Sorry my mistake!

That sorbothane sheet didn't cost me anything, I forgot I had ordered parts at the same time, I was counting the cost of the parts!!

Edit:

Wow have I ever fucked this thread up!

I think it was removed because you need to pay for retailer status.

Some crazy mod who likes the letter of the law more than the spirit must have disliked your thread, Tirador.

As far as ASC rule/policy is concerned. you can not be an ASC retailer if your age is not verified. I love to be a retailer though but it is impossible. no ASC age verifier will fly here just to check my age or vise versa.

As I've said. If that is the case.no hard feelings. let the Sorbothane thread gone forever.

Thanks ASC. I'm very proud that I'm a member here and I consider this site as my second home.
After Japan, Sorbothane in airsoft was started here in Canada and now it is everywhere.

I think you should talk with Aqua. I don't know Japan but come on it's a small Island you two could meet up somewhere when he's back there, maybe buy him a beer or two maybe a ladyboy. Hope things work out and good luck with the pads.

Actually, this may not be needed, apperently Ehobby asia has just purchased retailer status on ASC...

Lets hope they don't try to sell us AEG lol.

I don't know why your thread was removed, but I can look in to this for you.

Chances are, it was removed due to our new retailer status', and seeing as how one of the retailers who has paid for space is also one of your distributors (AirsoftParts.ca). I wouldn't worry too much about your product not getting sold here.

It's an equality thing... if all the other retailers here have to pay money in order to make money using ASC, it doesn't seem fair if we let someone else slide by making money without having to pay a cent.

... Does that make sense?

That doesn't matter - by having the retailer status, you are welcome to post and discuss a lot of retail-related issues on the board, as well as create for sale threads in the retailer forums.

Hmm... right, I'd forgotten you weren't an age verified member. I'd have to look in to this for you with the admins who run the donation program, or you are welcome to contact them yourself:

Lisa or Mantelope can assist you more, since they are the ones who set policy on this.
