Battery dying after a few mags
 

I got a stock ARES/STAR M4A1 and Two 1100mah G&P batteries.

I charge the batteries with a BOL DD-01 Smart Charger and it shows they are fully charged but after only 2-3 Midcap mags my battery starts to die out then around the 3 or 4th it stops working.

Is it the batteries fault? I also have a ICS 600mah battery that does the same.

How old are the batteries?

The G&P batteries are about 1-2 months and the ICS is one year.

I've had batteries die in under a year. Try another charger to start though from someone who's not having problems.

Might be a faulty motor

Well what do you have in there for a spring? With 1100 mah you should get roughly 1000 to 1500 shots iirc. Now if you have a heavy spring or your motor hight is not set correctly it will seriously shorten that length. Each hicap is 300 rounds so 4 hicaps is 1200 rounds.... Your actually right in the ballpark...

cycle the battery properly. maybe there are some damaged cells...

It might be my motor length, being still a newb with Mechboxes, what is the correct length or how should I correct it.

Also I tried some RC charger my uncle had for his Helis, it still does the same.

There should be a screw to adjust the motor height at the base of the pistol grip.

If that is your problem, it would need to be slacked off. You must listen to the sound of the gears meshing as you adjust the motor height. Just make it tight enough to get rid of any "grinding" or "whining" sounds.

It could be:

1. Battery problem, change the battery.
2. Bad motor, you need to change it, it'll stop working eventually.
3. Motor adjustment height. If the motor is too high, lower it, it needs more power to work if it's too far up there.
4. Wiring, faulty wiring, could make your gun consume more power. It needs to be changed.

Take your pick. It could be any number of these. I can't think of anything else. For now...

I pull the end plate off and adjust motor height with my thumb to get an ear for the right sound. The put the plate back in and carry on. Only works with non-caged motors etc.

I don't get it. Let's say you adjust the motor height with ur thumb (which must be really hard), when you let it go, won't you have to re-adjust it?

check the batteries with a multimeter after full charge.
they should give more than the required voltage.
since all batteries seem to have the same problem, it's either a problem with the charger, or charger wiring.
the gun is stock and you've used it before? so then it's probably a problem either with the batteries or the gun somehow requiring more power to be activated (short, wear of motor or cables...)

you need to test the batteries first and see what they say.

It's not that hard to hold the motor in with your thumb.

You do have to set the height with the cap on after but this gives a quicker route to hear the sound from fully locked up (no zing) to just right and then too low instead of playing around with some tiny Allen key or screwdriver.
