I really don't want to ask this as i'm sure if i look a lot harder i just may find my answer BUT for those who can offer some quick direction without being too troubled; where would a person buy "cream of the crop" gear? as in outfitting.

I have all the gear one would need but i'm looking to do some upgrading and am not familiar with the companies that offer the highest quality gear. I'm assuming there is some sort of online company but again; not to sure.

I have a decent understanding of guns but load-outs are definitely not my forte. A little direction would be great.


I'm currently running a multicam CIRAS with multicam BDU. It's rigged for my M4. Also have a Coyote brown CIRAS rigged for an M14.

My thought is, why try and rig up m4's and other such guns to resemble RS with trades and whatnot but leave the load-out as cheap replicas?

I have a Flyye Force Recon Land and have to say it is awesome and stands up to every thing I throw at it. I can't afford any of the real deal HSLD gear, but Flyye to me is very good for the money. I spent alot of time shopping around and researching and now I am replacing all my cheap gear with Flyye.
For BDUs I stick with brand name and am happy with my Propper and Full Clip multicam ACUs. I wish Full Clip would make ACUs in MARPAT and CADPAT.

Fullclip... Lol. Not saying it's bad, but it's not what i'd call "cream of the crop".

I can't say I have much knowledge of gear either, but here are my best attempts at helpful suggestions.

If you want a store fairly close to you (also an online store) that seems to have a good selection of a lot of BDUs try Crown Surplus (www.armysurplus.com). They are in Calgary and stock Propper BDUs which is one of the best brands.

As for other items like gloves and rigs, I would recommend Blackhawk gear (though not sure where you can order it from online aside from www.blackhawk.com or near you). I know that Hamilton Tactical (www.hamiltontactical.ca) sells some of their stuff online but they are in Ontario.

Blackhawk - Stay away from it, its all made overseas no in piss poor conditions
LBT- Great stuff when you can snag their military grade, bad stitching and feel on civilian line of gear
Eagle - Great stuff, but some of it is starting to be made overseas for civilian line
SOE- Overbuilt and heavy, but because of that will also take a beating
HSGI - some of their stuff is great, some rigs are horrible if your only using it for airsoft due to bulk
TAG- Awesome stuff, light weight, and great construction, not as expensive as LBT, similar designs

Those are the main ones I work with or around. They also offer amazing warranties for if you break it. If you have the money most of them will custom design your gear for you.

Paraclete and DBT are other great companies but I haven't had a chance to work with it much so I can't tell you anything about it. Squadmates of mine use it and love the stuff though.

Best place to get it is through the manufacturer directly. If you go to some sites like SKD they tend to grab the cheaper made quota gear from the manufacturer, which could have it being made overseas or with cheaper materials

Tactical Tailor is good too, I don't have much CP Gear stuff but what I do have I like.

I like ATS as well and Blue Force Gear.

Mayflower R&C and Tyr Tactical are two more recent manufacturers. Both pay a lot of attention to making lightweight kit.

this is all my Marine corps issue gear

I'm using a TAG Banshee plate Carrier, tested two weeks ago, good build, especially on shoulders with integrated pads (I painfully remember the FAPC it looks to be based on).
BUT do not buy any pouches from them : not very good construction and very, very sloppy work on respect of molle sizes, the pouches are a pain in the ass to put on and somme just can't. Plus they have a high tendacy of not shipping the pouches you ordered.
My 7.62 pouches all come from Ur-Tactical (also have a chassis incoming). Very good build, I've been using their stuff for years, never let me down.
Plus they offer combat shirt and pants with integrated pads, what more to ask ?

I have nothing but good experience with Tactical Tailor. I wore a MAV on my tour with an assortment of TT pouches; and it's built like a tank. I've waded in chest deep shit, baked it in the sun, been hauled out of a vehicle... Not even a scratch. The TT pouches I have even feel like they're made of multiple layers of fabric... I have no worries about throwing all kinds of crazy weight into those pouches. That vest has now been through 3 tours in Afghanistan and I'd use it again in a heartbeat. The only problem with it now is it's so dirty that the nylon webbing doesn't like being pulled through buckles anymore.

There is no "cream of the crop". Only what works and what does not. If you want "better than knockoff" then buy the real shit from Eagle.
