Aftermath Lycaon Jammed?

Hey,
I just got my aftermath lycaon in the mail so I charged up the battery and loaded the clip up with bbs. It worked good for about 10 shots on semi, but then I put it into full auto and shot about 5-10 bbs just have have it jam and make a terrible noise. I tryed to unjam it with the stick but no bbs are coming out. Could it be that the gearbox is already wrecked? If so ill just send it back to Cabelas and try another one.

I say send it back for a refund if possible. What are you using it for? Plinking in the basement or are you planning on taking it to games? If your planning on using it in games then you should spend the extra money on something with better quality.

send it back and save more money for a better quality gun.

Thing is that I'm 17 and cannot get aved. So I can really only get brand new guns and therefore it would cost me about $400 which I don't want to spend on an airsoft gun. I would mind going to a few skirmishes but it would mostly be used for shooting targets in my backyard.

Well if you're only thinking of going to maybe 2 or 3 skirmishes a year then it probably makes more sense to rent/borrow gear from someone and get a .177 for target shooting in the backyard.

If it's anything like the broxa (great secondary for snipers btw) then use ultra gloss bbs only. They can be a real pain in the butt to unjam. Whatever you do, don't try to fire them out. Use the unjamming rod. Stick it in the barrel, move it around a bit, then put it in the bb feed. Be careful not to push too hard or twist as you may damage the rubber hop-up.

Prevention. When shooting full auto, use burst shots. It seems to prevent jams.

Oh boy... Just you wait until you see how a real airsoft gun performs...

your better off returning it. if you dont want to spend alot on a gun, get the kraken. its a solid starter gun specially with a new shim job. makes a awesome build platform as well

When you get your new one, either throw away the mag or if you must use it, Take off the Metal pieces on the oustide. I know this will take away from the durability of the mag but Aftermath loves making really tight mags, the problem with the Lyacaon mag is that since the metal piece (on the outside) fits on so tight, it ends up locking up the high cap gears, therefore significantly slowing down the amount of rounds it can deliver. I know this because i have one. Personally i love the Lyacaon because its really compact, but invest in a metal body and the gun should be fine or do what i do. Upgrade the gearbox components or swap for a better/more durable gearbox like a JG (keeping prices in mind and previous experience) JG drop ins are very affordable and reliable... As for a metal body that will insure your hop up and gearbox are always aligned and therefore you never lose compression to a crappy body...
