General questions about AK74U AEG
Hey guys my AV is actually on the way,so just wondering in general if there is an acceptable AK74U AEG on the market so far, all that I know is the Cyma & Dboy ones but seems vanished on manufacturing for a long while.
are there any other companies making it ?(except TM, Cause AK wasn't born an aluminum/alloy thing) better if some potential in taking RS parts. thanks in advance! Dont be too fussy about the AV part, I 'll definitely start looking into the purchase as long as the required AV step is complete. |
My friends CA AKS-74u passed the magnet test indicating it's ethier full steel or steel with iron alloy parts.

There are still a few retailers that have the CYMA ones... they're beastly little things.

VFC makes a full steel AK74 I believe.
Real Sword has a steel/wood Type 56, which is a replica of the AK47. |
Thanks guys for the important head-up ! I thought VFC only made the standard ak74...
yes undoubtedly their 74u is awesome, but the price is a little bit over my budget. and seems that only cybergun and APS are the mainstream manufacturers of the 74U on the market. anyone got some experience with the so-called the APS EBB? mind briefly tipping something off about their gearbox? |

I have heard the APS is bad all around, externals and internals.
I have mad love for my Cyma/Cybergun AK though. Hasn't let me done once in the three-ish years of owning it. Just as an FYI, it says Cybergun all over the box pretty much, but when you look at the internals you most likely will see Cyma. There are those who have mad hate for Cybergun/AGM/Cyma (Such as 8thArmy) but I have yet to be let down. Perhaps give the Mechbox a once over, regrease, reshim and check air compression, past that you should be golden. |
Woww I even don't know lots of companies deal with the 74U, even like SRC, ICS those medium level companies, instead the prices seem at a VFC's level.

Cymas are actually really quite good. QC used to be pretty hit and miss but these days they're quite acceptable, even if only for the externals.
A Cyma + a couple hundred bucks of upgrades and gun tech work down the road a season or two and it'll run for years. |

I have a Cybergun/Cyma AK74u.
This is a tank. No upgrades at all and it being going great for 2 season's now... Shoot 360-365fps. +1 to Styrak post. |

CYMA AKS-74us are bad guns if you game guns hard. Potmetal frontsight, reciver. Internals can be fixed/upgraded externals are harder to deal with. Get steel if you can Dboys,VFC,CA,LCT if not Aluminum, ICS,SRC and if all else fails a potmetal gun CYMA,JG. Avoid APS as it's generally just Another Piece of Shit.
I understand CYMA mechboxes are beastly I had one last 4 years stock until I decided to upgrade the motor thus frying the switch but it's still mechcanically good to go. The newer CYMA stamped steel reciever guns look promising, but it's my personal view on externals over internals. Easier to import a new mechbox pain in the ass to get a new reciever. |
