Making my Field Safer

I and my friends have decided to make our field slightly safer, we would like to put up a wall that goes around the entire field, now this is about 1200 feet to go all the way around it, what would be the cheapest solution to do it?

Plywood is very expensive new and to find enough for 1200 feet would be a nightmare, I was also thinking about getting rolls of burlap (100yard rolls) and putting it around the whole field.

Anyone else got some possibly cheaper alternatives?

What is it's purpose? To stop BB's going out or to stop people from coming in?

It it's to stop BB's, they don't have much range so I wouldn't worry that much.

Paintball netting? It's like $1000 for a roll of 300 feet though so could be cost prohibitive (don't forget to factor in cost of posts to hold it up). Alternatively setup some sort of fencing to keep people out (except ones intent on trespassing), and a buffer zone between the fence and the play area should suffice.

Ok I'll give you guys a litle more info, my field is situated on a small plateau and bolth sides have rocks going down nearly verticle, also its to show people how far they can and cant go (field goes to the edge of my land)

So thats what the intent of it is, as for BB's going threw its not what Im worried about, the posts I wont need I have plenty of trees following the ridge line and such. Thanks!

Cheapest solution?

Caution tape.

Mind you, I'm pretty drunk.

How about that plastic orange snow fence? With metal stakes/posts you only need a hand post driver to put posts in and you can scavenge the fence net for free come spring time in many places

Yup. That's what I was going to say before I saw your post.

Bright orange/red tape with some wooden stakes. Done.

You will find it at CanTire and even dollorama.

It's okay but it wont keep a player from running out of the woods into the dangerous area. My suggestion, Yellow nylon rope that can be found in all hardware stores for a few dollars for 100-200 ft. You can weave it from tree to tree waist high. You can add tape to the rope if you want to make it even more visible. It will hurt if someone runs full tilt into the rope but it's not as bad as missing the tape and learning to fly;)

I'd say snow fence but tape definitely a cheaper alternative

I've been to field where they use rope. If you really want to cheap out, not a bad solution lol

Whats nice with the burlap tho is that i can dye it!! Be more camo and blend in

Deadpool March 6th, 2012 10:37

If it's for safety, make it bright as possible. If someone just misses it in it's peripheral vision and goes off the cliff by accident, you'll be in trouble. Yes, dyed burlap is great for a cache, but for safety: go bright or go home.

Styrak March 6th, 2012 11:26

Yeah that entirely defeats the purpose Sempi.

Lol re-reading what I wrote, I guess it really does :P What I ment is that I dont want it to show from a distance, but if you get up close youll know its there, like if I were to dye burlap green and brown etc... And the fence will be set atleast 10 feet away before the cliff so even if someone goes threw it they wont fall straight away!
