Multi Channle Ptt

So im wondering, does anyone know of a PTT/headset system that lets you talk on multiple channels at once?

maybe something with a ptt button for channel 1 and a ptt button for channel 2?

Im aware they make stuff like this for some of the really higher end radios but im wondering if they make something like that for normal kenwood 2 pins.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Yes, Peltor makes a dual PTT that connects to one headset and two radios, and you can get it in a Kenwood pinout. I use one with two Wouxun radios and connect to my Comtacs or my TEA headsets.

You can choose to transmit on either radio, and you receive on both radios at the same time.

I believe I still have one that has dual MBITR connectors somewhere. I used to buy them on Ebay and have someone convert them but he does not do that anymore, so I just have them made by Peltor.

Getting one with Kenwood pinouts from Peltor will cost between $320 and $365 USD, and you still have to supply the headset. Note that you can also get a U94 style dual switch from TEA as well and it would be similarly priced.

Nice! what kind of headset plug do they take? is it a normal large stereo jack or a multi-pin connector?

Do you happen to have any web address links for these?

Thanks

Or do you want a dual PTT so you can talk on 2 radios?

The Peltor PTTs I've used take the stereo style jack.

Idealy im looking for a ptt that lets me talk on 2 channels on the same radio (at different times of course)

IMO from what I've seen/used you will need to either just have to flick back and forth between channels or get a second radio and a dual PTT or 2 single PTTs and a dual headset.

ya, what i was hoping had been made was something like the surefire flashlight switches

Looks like what i want hasn't been made.

I was going to build a dual radio ptt but then i said fuck it and moved my radio to a spot where i can just reach it. cant monator to 2 channels at once but at least i can talk between them quickly.

I'm looking for one that operates two different radios

Reignman July 26th, 2012 09:58

if you get a puxing 888 you can monitor 2 channels at once. Imma ask the tech direct guy see if he has a ptt like this or can find one.

Reignman July 26th, 2012 10:23

you can set the puxxing to monitor 2 channels at the same time. so anyone talking on those channels it will pick up. you can switch easily between the 2 channels by i think...holding menu and hit the ptt button or something like that.

Reignman July 26th, 2012 10:32

good question. Im not sure if they walk over each other or not man. I can test it tonight and get back to you on it.

That particular radio will permit monitoring of 2 channels and transmit on one.

one channel is tagged as primary, and has priority over the 2nd channel... incoming traffic on the primary will interrupt traffic on the secondary

you can toggle between channels changing their priority with a single button

it's a great little radio..

Reignman July 26th, 2012 10:43

Ya...what he said.

Our whole team has them. Love em.

Rog, so standard scan with pri and secondary channels.

yup.. and pretty good power usage.. if you transmit on low power ( which we should all be doing as we are inside city limits with unlicensed radios )

Viperfish July 26th, 2012 11:16

yup i got the 888, hit up tech just the other day, he actualy just brought in the NEW 88s, green with dual bands

like brian and reign stated yes it can monitor 2 channels at once, i just dont like having to actually touch my radio as it is normally mounted on my back. having a ptt that let me do that would be ideal.

Any of the replica headsets/PTT's like Element with the Kenwood two pin plugs work with the Puxing PX-888, so you could use one of those if you just want a single PTT.
