Suggestions for sidearms?

I'm looking for a sidearm, I have a Echo1 Red Star as my main rifle. I'm looking for something that I can easily swap to.

A pistol will work great!

whats you preferance?
small rifle, smg or pistol?
large or small frame?
blowback or non blowback?
plastic or metal?
style?

We can't really tell you what pistol will work best for you, It's really up to personal preference. As far as something easy to "swap to" that really depends more on your gear set up and your holster than the type of pistol.

If you want something that pairs well with an AK, KWA makes a coupe of pistols that would go well with it. The KZ75 (CZ75) and the TT-33. KWA is also supposed to have a Makarov in the making if you can wait for it.

My best advice would be to test out a few pistols, see what fits your hand well and which ones you shoot well with. Figure out what features are you looking for, mag fed or revolver, single action or double/single action trigger, single or double stack mags, propane and or c02, blowback or non etc.

I would like a pistol, small framed, blow back and metal :D I enjoy the 1911 or glock type guns.

Glock is not bad. GLock 18C also fit 49 round mag , i think it can make enough.

The TM HiCapa is a good choice because there are boatloads of aftermarket upgrades available.

Sidearms are overrated, just throw empty mags at them.

You have two choices, pick one that goes with your impression or pick one that's a personal preference. Start here by reading reviews and looking at pictures.

Easy answer is M9 or 1911

Marui 1911. Forget all that nonsense about value or metal, nothing, NOTHING beats a Marui 1911. I don't care how cheap KJ or WE guns are, yeah, they're like 200% better value, but a Marui 1911 dance circles around any clone pistol.

pistol choice is such a personal thing... it's whatever suits you best. I tried a lot of guns and the only one I really liked and fit into my hand comfortably was the 226. Though I didn't get to try a px4 or 5-7, maybe if I get a chance to try those I might like them too since they are a bit smaller.

Then get a small glock or 1911.

1911's
TM makes good ones...plastic though
SOCOM Gear makes pretty good ones
WE's are hit and miss
Some are "commander" length...most are full size. There is a detonics "baby"
Gas usage ranges from poor to just-ok...average sitting in the so-so
Gabizzilion parts available for the 1911...not all parts fit into all guns

Glocks
Tons of KSC/KJW's out there
TM's are good...plastic though. I don't know if they make a 19/23/etc...just the 17 I think
19's are small...23's are smaller
Gas usage is better than the 1911...but when you're into the small mags they're not great either
Grip sizes are all about the same...just vary in length. I suppose the 1x series differs fromt he 2x series...but not by a lot.

If you want a simple smaller pistol to stash in a vest pocket/pouch...get a G19.

When you find that perfect out of the box pistol...let me know. :)

Duckman September 11th, 2012 15:13

correction tys, 19's and 23's are the same size. the 26 is smaller if you can find one.

REAPER426 September 11th, 2012 15:19

deagle ! Full auto for those moments when ya just wanta let loose!

m102404 September 11th, 2012 15:50

Thanks Al, good catch. Could never keep all the Glock series straight!

I do know that the G23F is super fun...right up until your frame breaks, your slide breaks or your slide/frame mech eats it :) Super fun though...

KWA USP

Ergonomic, light weight, low cost, reliable. They are about $185.00; or the more economical compact version for $170.00. But if you want to spend some money, I'd suggest Tokyo Marui. Avoid slender gun frames like the 1911 and M9 as they can be problematic. If your dead set on one, then buy quality. The best inner designs come from the USP, Sig P226, etc. Avoid Desert Eagles; they aren't as easily wielded for their size.

Avoid:
- WE (WEtti)
- KJW (KJ Works)
- Skeleton Arms

Good companies:
- Tokyo Marui
- Western Arms
- KSC
- KWA (not bad)

If you want a metal pistol; your better off buying one that comes metal. Upgrading to metal is expensive. Your gun will run more sluggish, and your internals will have to replaced to handle the heavier slide and stronger recoil spring.
