Looking to buy an M14, CYMA or Echo 1?
 

I have been looking into buying an m14 and i am not sure which one to get. CYMA's m14 is much cheaper but that kinda worries me.

I need help choosing and i thought i should ask the experts.

I can tell you that CYMA is the OEM for the Echo1 M1A (and their RedStar AK series) so you're essentially getting the same rifle.

I figured out that some company's purchase others products and changes them slightly if at all and rebrands them under there own name. I recently bought a WE M4 and a Matrix M4 and beside each other they are identical in every way. The only difference is the gearbox. Not a bad thing, its a way for company's to make more money.

CYMA also makes the Cybergun branded version.

I am not sure they are the same.
When I researched M14s, I found some odd stuff (like smaller dia. inner/outer, so nothing fits the ECHO1), and hybrid V2/V3/V7 mechbox so finding parts is really painful.

If they now rebrand CYMAs, go for it.

Otherwise, just get the CYMA. They don't have the cheesy Echo1 trades and are 100% TM compatible. Cyberguns = CYMA (I got two and both are CYMA but marked Cybergun on the box).

Im not completely sure, but I think the Echo 1 M14 is a Kart re-brand, not a Cyma.

Recent Echo1 rebrand guns often contain upgrade parts relative to their OEM-branded products, typically Madbull, usually the piston and/or bucking. While the overall construction may be the same there is some differentiation in the products that are destined for Echo1's USA and Europe products. I am not sure if this extends to the practice of "binning" or higher-QC batches like is supposedly happening with the Umarex USA stuff.

You can glean more information about this by watching the Echo1 tech support channel on YouTube, or you can just straight up ask Brian Holt at Echo1 through email/facebook/youtube. If the possibility of slightly upgraded parts and a very responsive and helpful tech support channel matters to you, the Echo1 product may have the edge.

Why no mention of the Cyma Sopmod M14

I've been looking for reviews on this everywhere. I got to handle it at Huangs - Roughly 11lbs with no loaded mag or battery in.

I assume that you are referring to the newish CYMA M14 EBR version (cm032ebr).

Try searching for "cyma m14ebr" - a lot of reviews come up for that, vs using keywords "mk14mod1" etc.

Two versions have come out of it... an initial silver release in the US, and a black version a little later. Assume that this is the same basic CYMA M14 in the SOPMOD stock, in terms of overall quality.

11 lbs and a full sized barrel length are pretty hefty .. i had an M14 in a DMR stock around 10 lbs.. that was a heavy mother to be lugging around the field .. or perhaps i'm just way out of shape.
