Hop-up / Barrel installation.

Ok, so i've dissambled my G36c, and installed a new barrel. When taking out the hopup it says to turn 90 degree's and pull it out of the back of the gun. No problem. However after I placed the hop-up onto my new barrel, and go to slide the hop up back into the gun, it slides into the slot but when I go to turn it 90 degree's it won't lock back into position and keeps pushing back out. Are there any suggestions of what I should try to do?

If no one has any suggestions then does someone at least know of gun smith's in the Hamilton area?

have you seen this? hope it helps: http://pageproducer.arczip.com/daedalus03/g36chop.html

youre doing the right thing but you gotta make sure the two tabs on the hop unit slide into the right place before you turn it 90 degrees.

Actually thats what I used to install it. Thanks for the help, but the pictures aren't a very good depiction of what needs to be done. Anyway the only way that I managed to get the hop-up to lock into place was without the small black rubber piece that goes on the barrel. This has me worried because i'm almost certain that the rubber piece needs to be at the end of the hop-up correct?

Heres how I do it:

First with it all apart like this:
http://tinypic.com/bj5ta8.jpg

The barrel goes in first, the barrel has a line that marks the bottom this line should be pointing down.

After the barrel is in the smaller piece on top goes next. Put it in togeter like so:

With those steps done you can put the hop up dial on and then the c-clip to hold it together. Finally install the brass ring and spring(not pictured)

Pay attention to how the cut outs on the side of the barrel are alinged.

to get the barrel and hop back on the gun you need to line up these posts on the hop:

to these on the barrel assembly/fuse holder:

Once they are lined up push the hop unit in and then turn it (if it doesnt lock try turning it the opposite direction). It should lock into the barrel asssembly and be ready to go.

sorry to resurect this but im having some problems with installation as well.....i got everything back in including my new barrel but this little black rubber piece fell out when i took it aparat...now do i need to put this back in??
I have a Tm M16 A2.....this is getting me worried.....if i have to put it back in where does it go?

If the little black rubber piece is about the size of a pencil tip, yes, you need it. It's the piece that moves the hopup rubber up and down. It sits on the tip of the hopup arm and touches the hopup rubber.

You have to use a good light, hold the hop up unit upside down. Look inside, you'll see a small rectangular hole, that's where the peice that fell out goes. Have to cover the end of it, drop the rubber peice in and try to roll it into the hole. Use a small screwdriver or similar to position it sideways in that hole, then slip the barrel with the hop up sleeve into there. That should make it all good. Check by shining a light down the barrel, look in the other end, and move the hop up dial full on and full off. You should see the nub get pressed into the barrel. Good luck SlipStream! It's tricky, but nowhere near as tricky as installing a new hammer spring into a KSC Glock 19! Hehe, did a LOT of this: :banghead:

Congrats!

Dont feel bad, I too find that having just a little minuscule piece of rubber that can/will fall off at the worst time.
This should be remedied by the manufacturers.

I had the same problem with the bucking in my M24 hop up unit, and it got frustrating having to crawl around looking for a clear silicon (the BEST, Guarder clear sleeve & bucking) tube on the floor, or having to order another set. But, during the course of giving sniper rifle advice to one of the many that ask me every question under the sun, one of the new guys said someone told him to just put a drop of Krazy Glue on the hop up lever and keep the bucking secrued that way. Never heard of it, but tried it and no shit, it's awesome!

Stalker, that is one of those solutions that is so darned logical nobody ever really thinks about it.
No, I'm not flaming.

Hey if you lose that little hopup peace like i did you can take a Pen apart and cut a small peace of plastic off the inside part that is made of clear plastic it holds the ink in the pen. its the same size as the round hopup part. It works the exact same. PM me if you dont understand what im saying lol Its hard to explain. hope this helps.
