Gearbox and hop up chamber compatibility

Hi guys,

Can you fit just about any gearbox to just about any hop up chamber, so long as you have the right nozzle for the hop up chamber?

Theoretically, should I be able to marry another type of hop up chamber to the version 7 gearbox, provided I use the appropriate nozzle and have the hop up lined up perfectly with the gearbox?

Any input would be grand.

Thanks

Theoretically - yes.
Provided you get the nozzle to hop rubber seal perfect.
This means having to make sure the tappet plate stroke works for your hop-up unit as well as making sure the nozzle length is perfect.

The following shit happened to one of my gun once:
Stock Hop up chamber is 1mm back, mags do not fit well.
Change to an aftermarket one, mags fit, but started to double feeding.
Filed about 0.4mm on the back of the chamber - no more double feeding, but mags do not fit again.
Put a small O-ring on the back of the chamber - mags fit, no double feed, but a ~50 fps drop.
Didn't realize it was a nozzle to hop rubber seal problem, checked the seal around the rubber and barrel, telfon wraped - no change.
Open up the gearbox, filed the tappet plate a little - small improvement.
Open up the gearbox again, filed a little bit more of the tappet plate - finally, everything is working fine.

Lesson Learned: Be aware of the nozzle to hop rubber seal, and cheap guns "eats" time.

Anything can be made to fit anything given a skilled enough machinist
I used to make custom extra length air nozzles, but there wasnt enough demand and the idea that you'd NEED a custom length nozzle to make shit work was just total BS lol
