TM Hi-Capa 5.1 frames
I was reading a review on the TM Hi-Capa (http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/revie.../cat/17/page/4) and noticed that the reviewer said that the frame was full metal. At first I thought this was a typo or something but then saw that the author had revised and updated the review.
I've never heard of a a stock TM gun containing metal frames or slides so I did a google search and came up with a few other sources that say the TM Hi-Capa 5.1 has a full metal frame. http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airso...t&id=HICAP51TM http://www.airsoftretreat.com/classi...p/product/5417 I've never seen a metal frame for the Marui Hi-Capa 5.1, and all the retailers seem to have the build material of the gun down as strictly ABS. Whats going on here? any insight would be appreciated, Zi-Xiao |
The TM hicapa series frames are indeed metal..if you could call it that. The slides are obviously plastic.
|
as the above poster said, the frame is metal but the slide is plastic.
I've tried the TM Desert Eagle (hardkick), TM Beretta M92F Chrome, KSC USP, and the TM Hi-Capa 4.3, and the hi-capa is my favourite. |
The frames are indeed metal. It's casted pot metal. The grips are plastic. The slides are plastic.
There are also aftermarket metal frames available: http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/imag...acc_hc51bk.jpg http://www.wgcshop.com/WGC_Shop/imag..._hc51lrfbk.jpg |
Ah... well in that case, how come the retailers always list the Hi-Capa as an ABS gun? Ususally they'er eager to advertise any metal parts on a gun even if its something as negligible as the hammer or the trigger...
well, thanks for clearing that up then Zi-Xiao |
Well... almost ZERO guns are fully ABS.
But *most* of the Hi-Capa external is plastic. As far as retailer descriptions, if they say it's ABS, they're mostly referring to the slide. |
....in that case the 4.3 has more metal than the 5.1 :o
|
umm... explain. I fail to see the increase in metal parts.
|
Dust cover. It seems like it's essentially the same size, though.
|
Huh? The dust cover is a part of the mid-frame.
|
longer dust cover = more metal; hence "the 4.3 has more metal than the 5.1".
But realistically they're about the same size. |
ah. I get what you're saying now. As for what neir was saying, I don't think that's what he was referring to.
|
lol. I tried to make sence of what little workable material I was given.
|
To clear the record of me looking stupid, yes i ment the 'dust cover' (assuming you ARE talking about the rail along the bottom of the slide)
As for them being the same size, i think there is a fair difference between them. (although never having owned a 5.1 i may be wrong) |
In that case, yes, the section of the mid frame on the 4.3 is longer than on the 5.1 by about .75".
On the flip side, the 5.1's metal inner barrel is longer than the 4.3 by about 0.8". ha ha! |
