Upgrades for CAm15A4 m16
 

Hi,

I have a ca m15A4 and i am going to upgrade it too 400fps....
Besides the spring what other parts should i upgrade and why?
I already know i should upgrade the piston and piston head.
I also want too change the motor too somthing more powerful; i am considering either the hummer 1300s or a systema high grade motor but i dont know which one would be better for a 400 fps spring. Will Classic Army's gears be able too handle a new motor? Are there any parts you know of that will increase my guns overall performance?

You don't need to upgrade the piston and piston head.

It comes stock with metal bushings - your only crucial upgrade to that power level would be a metal spring guide. Plastic ones do not reliably survive at 400fps - it's cheap prevention.

The m15a4 comes with a metal spring guide :)

"M15A4" designates the entire series of rifles, and they don't all come with metal spring guides - I just opened an M16 2 days ago and it had a plastic one.

Your absolutly right.. The m16a3 version of the m15a4 was the one with the metal spring guide.

Yours has a metal spring guide? What I just said is I opened an "M16A3" CA M15A4 and it had a plastic spring guide (and another M4 variant we worked on had a plastic spring guide as well).

Have you opened your mechbox?

Stamped on the box it says "high quality products with metal spring guide" does your say that as well?

When i drive power up to 400+ i like to change the piston. I've seen quite a few get chewed just because they weren't up to handling the power of the spring bearing down on the gears. You want to try to avoid putting too much stress on the piston. At any rate, if you do upgrade the piston, don't go polycarb, go aluminum or titanium tooth. They last longest and can stand up to the stress.

That's interesting, I'm not sure what you've got there. We've got latest arrivals from Classic Army, and the M15A4's (apart from the CQB, which CA's new 7mm gearbox) don't have metal spring guides. CA doesn't even list it on their website as having a metal spring guide (they're pretty explicit about what each gun has).

I guess I'll check the boxes tomorrow at the shop. The stuff we've got is fresh off the press from CA, so I'm curious as to what you've got there. Can you take a picture of the box? You should open your gearbox at some point too, see what's actually inside.

Ok, will do. I plan on upgrading the spring this week soo i'll be able too get back too you soon at that. Uhmm... i have never owned an armlite, and i have no idea on how too get the gearbox out of the metal body. Can you please tell me how too get it out?
