Help needed with UHF radio.
Here's the deal. I have KYD radio which is a replica of Kenwood radio. Lately it started acting up. Incoming transmission are clear but when I transmit people get a lot of static. I'm just wondering, is it something to do with menu adjustments or my speaker just dying?
Thank you. |
are you using some sort of cheap kenwood PPT clone.
When you use the handset only is it clear for both parties? |
I haven't tried a handset because I don't have one at the moment. So it's the radio itself that does it.

There is a "interference" or "sensitivity" type option that can be set from 0 to 10... mine is at 5. But this option is to cancel out incomming noise. not outgoing. I find that my KYD radio sometime broadcast to strongly for cheaper radios and they pick me up only when they are further away.
I need to dig out the manual. If you have it try looking for that setting setting. Its like function + 0 or star... i don't recall off the top of my head. |
I know what you are talking about, already tried that from 1 to 10, doesn't really help.

Are you using a Mic.?Maybe a bad cable or jack for it? Or your PTT switch? Need some more Info!

Someone told me that it might be a capacitor that is dying after radio was soaked in water. If that's the case, is there a way to replace one or should I just get new radio instead?
|
How much water are you talking about,ie. alittle rain or oops fell ina puddle lol. When a electronic unit hit water(if it's off) DON'T turn it on!Let it dry out for a week!(worked for me,and take the battery out of it!)If it was a cap, probley wouldn't recive either, but might still turn on!It's hard to say without seeing it.There should be a Repair shop in your area or find a Ham operator and maybe he'll be nice and giver a look over for you.
