I just got some A&K MK43s, and the manual has a pic of the A&K PTW's that are coming out. There was no more information, other than the rumors that have been floating around.

*licking lips...

So could someone clarify exactly what I'm looking at? I don't know anything about PTW's but would I be right in assuming that this is the same as the systema PTW's?

Thenooblord July 14th, 2009 20:10

Ugh, yet another armalite on the market, how much longer till the design runs it's course and we get something new and interesting?

ujiro July 14th, 2009 20:16

Armalites are ftw though. So much customization and available parts.. Not to mention being in service across many many nations. The design won't run its course in airsoft until it does in real mil.

What would you rather they come out with?

To the point: I wouldn't buy a CTW, and probably wouldn't buy one of these. But.. It could turn out to actually be somewhat decent. A&K stuff isn't too too bad.

Shirley July 14th, 2009 20:22

If this stuff is PTW compatible, I'd buy. And if it was to be cheaper with RS compatible. :)

Thenooblord July 14th, 2009 20:23

I don't like armalites, because everybody and their dog has an armalite, uniqueness ftw!

panzergrenadier July 14th, 2009 20:24

Armalites are sweet... uniqueness is nothing but a way for douchebags to feel special.
Anyhoo doesn't matter what rifles one prefers... it's all about feel

ujiro July 14th, 2009 20:27

There are plenty of unique things to do with armalites if you just put some time, effort, and thought into it.
Everybodys got a car, got a computer. But when you customize it, you make it your own. Unique. Just because the base isn't unique doesn't mean you can't make something unique with it!

But again I ask the question; what would you rather they come out with then?

pusangani July 14th, 2009 21:12

An AK variant with the quick spring change option like ICS with its split mech uppers or Systema with its cylinders, ICS made a concept one but it never went into production, THIS would be special.

Skladfin July 14th, 2009 21:33

from what I've seen from regular A&Ks, I wouldnt buy this even if it was $100

Death March July 15th, 2009 00:54

Hmmm I think we'v been down this road before ;) I'm still woundering about the Madbull KRISS,like the copys of PTW I don't think it'll happen.

Interesting like what? Proto-type weapons that most of which will never see mass production lines in numbers that replace existing military issue armories?
One of the large part of Airsoft is recreation of warfare through simulation; so the more choices in devices allowing one to recreate actual load outs of military units the more someone can recreate the experience.

Perfect reason to like armalites actually; while they have endless ways in which one can make them unique with accessories to the point that the gun is almost not visible under them all one can still get a spare mag from even Lassie it seems ;).

I think with any platform people still like to do something to it so that when one looks at it they know that THAT is THEIR rifle. Some are happy with paint, some with 30 million accessories, some make it into a christmas tree with a kitchen sink! Besides there's always ways to make it "different." One of the easier ways today is, do nothing to it! haha.

Kokanee July 15th, 2009 07:29

If the cylinders are PTW compatible, that would finally solve the issue of $170 "springs".

I used to think that way too. Until I started playing more mil-sim games where it was low/real-caps only. There I was stuck with my Aug and everyone else around me had Armalites.

With limited reloads and no reloading in the field, the rest of the guys around me started running out of ammo and I couldn't help them by tossing an extra mag their way. When I started running out of ammo, I couldn't yell for an extra mag. Effectively taking myself out of the fight.
