getting a bit ticked off about this age verification bit...

Ok, i've been on the forums nearly a month now, and i have contacted 3 people near me to get myself age verified. I've messaged these people more than 3 times each within the span of a month, making sure i messaged them when they WERE online. I only have 4 people in my area to actually get verified and i still have yet to be replied back even with a small notification saying "I am sorry i am a little busy right now, could you wait (period of time)" maybe im doing something wrong, i dont really know, because i dont get a response saying that. These people HAVE read the messages, and still dont respond.

So i'm just going to go ahead and make a topic that asks this in hopes someone can pull this off...

Can anyone within the Edmonton area please help me set up an age verification meet up?

Fill out your profile first. Its always a good idea to let people (namely those like AV'ers) where you are actually from using your profile.
And yes, I do know that you said you were from Edmonton, but still, fill out your profile.

I'm going to Ft. Sask for a job Friday afternoon. If no one else is available, I can meet with you anytime in the evening if you like. PM me with your details and we can set something up.

I've also had this problem. one person actually got back tome, but I cant get to where they are to get AVed in reasonable time with my current schedule.

In order to be an age-verifer you need to be a member of the forum for at least 2 years... unfortunately that is May of 2010 for me, but at that point in time hopefully folks will be able to walkin to my store and I can verify them.

Perhaps Tony (iceman) can setup a "Group" verification time at the store so a few people can get it done at once?

Contact either Iceman or myself if no one else is replying.

ask flatlander around Dec 15. AFAIK hes having finals Engineering

I finished my degree this spring and am now working 60hr weeks. Being a verifier is VERY thankless job and frankly my work-life balance is more important to me than people being able to buy their toys. As I mentioned on the local EAR forums I've asked to step down as a verifier or else I'm only willing to verify people at events I attend (awaiting a response from the ASC admins).

I apologize to those who I haven't responded back via PM. I figure reply to all, or none...so I choose none. My response times to even friends and team mate's PM's are very poor now. This is real life, it had to catch up to me sooner or later.

Flatlander, I edited your AV'er info to reflect your request.

People have to remember, verifiers are volunteers. They get zero pay for doing this and zero reimbursement for their time or expenses. For example, I and the only AV'er in Central Alberta. That means I cover south of Edmonton, North of Calgary, East of BC, West of Saskatchewan. I've driven 2 hours to AV someone. No one pays me for my time or fuel. A lot of AV'er have school and demanding careers, family or are otherwise busy.

If you can't get a reply from the verifiers in your area, contact the next nearest one or one of the staff here. We might be able to help, we might not.

I was in the same boat as you OP, until someone reminded me to take the initiative and head to a game. You can even get into the action with rentals. My AV status was activated by the end of the game, so like a few hours.

That is, by far, the best way to get verified (going to an event).

For a while I was meeting people for verifications but it ended up being 10 people a week needing to get verified, at their place, on THEIR schedule. And that's just not doable.

So now I do events only and I know a lot of other verifiers (in the Montreal area anyway) are doing the same. There unfortunately aren't as many games during winter, I'm not a big fan of the indoor paintball place but I do drop by for a while every other game or so. We also had a pub night this past Monday which had a good turnout and will hopefully be happening fairly regularly: a couple of people got verified there (three verifiers were present).
