Trying to get creative juices flowing

So, it is becoming apparent to me Ima need some kind of vest or armor or whatnot to carry all my mags, batteries, etc into the field (derp)

So, because I honestly have no idea where to even begin besides randomly browsing sites for cool looking stuff, I was wondering what you guys like?

You know, something that's comfy, functional to a degree, and if at all possible, badass looking. Cause I want to walk the airsoft catwalk.

Thanks again! :P

Chest rigs are my favoritem sometimes I will also wear a belt pouch to hold more mags

I'd suggest asking a few guys if you can try on their rig first though, get a feel for all the different ones.

It would suck if you bought a bunch of gear and found it terribly uncomfortable or such.

Amos January 10th, 2010 23:48

It would help if you listed what you'll need to carry.

Sucks that the one I bought on impulse Feels VERY comfortable. Has 4 pouches for Mags, But sucks for G36 mags, and has 6 pouches for pistol mags. And, It's black.. :P

It was a pointless buy.

I would suggest, go to a shop that has stock, bring some mags.. and test it out.. Don't guess.

Im likely going to be packing

-AUG A1
-2 to 4 AUG magazines (330rd)
-MP7A1
-3 to 4 MP7 mags
-probably a small bag of BBs, 2500 or so (just in case)
-an extra battery (for my AUG and MP7 respectively)
-speedloader of some kind
-batteries for my scopes and lasers (tiny silver ones)
-And I'm gonna have a leg holster for my mp7

Helpful?

Unless you know EXACTLY what you want, or have no plans on changing your shooters later on...get something modular. TT MAV 2-piece is a tried and true design, and a buddy of mine uses an HSGI Warlord V4 overseas. It'll just give you a chance to field setups and see what works, and then change it depending on what you carry.

What is your budget?
What type of camo do you use?

Any theme or impression you prefer?

I'd recommand an OD RRV. It's versatile, can be used with or without a back plate carrier. You can attach a descent amount of pouchs to it and it will fit many types of impressions.

It's also a popular rig that is made by a lot of genuine gear maker and knock offs. Prince range from 100$ ish to 300$ ish. You will need to add pouches at about 20-25$ a pouche.

I don't really have a budget in mind honestly...

And I don't have any camo yet :/

Then I suggest you browse militaryphotos.net Check their pictures and videos section in the forum. There is tons of pictures of all types of military activities. You are bound to find something that catch your eyes and on wich you could base an impression on.

Since you have an Aug, I might suggest you look at the Australians. Their gear is nice, but not quite popular here. But then you could "travel" to other countries that use the Aug and see what they use for gear. South African use it I think, among other things and their gear is quite interesting.

Okay, thanks! I wasn't really to look like any faction or army in particular, was gonna mostly make it up

Its strange and wonderful that i found this thread to share my creation in.

Stripped the plate bags off an old vest and jerry rigged them onto a basic set of webbing. Still need to test it in a game. But it is rather comfortable.

Couldn't provide a back shot, but it is similar in look to the front. Need some OD Krylon now.

Amos January 14th, 2010 22:48

You're loosing quite a bit of molle real-estate under your arms there!!

Spas-Tick22 January 14th, 2010 22:50

yes and no. Webbing is taking the place of Molle. Plus its still possible to attach Molle equipment. And besides, the vest didnt provide much more area.

Jimski January 14th, 2010 22:54

interesting!

Spas-Tick22 January 14th, 2010 23:24

It can normally carry 6 mags. With a basic triple shingle on the front it jumps to 9. Ive attached 2 Bren Gun Pouches via Molle between the AR mag pouches on each side, and attached a jumbo hydration carrier on the back for 2 x 3L bladders. It allows me to carry enough ammo, water, and mags (even batteries if i choose to) to last an entire weekend skirmishing.
