Can these be put on any piston head, or do I need a MASK set up to use them?

Ok thanks, I wasn't sure. I was gonna order that kit off of airsoftparts.ca, but I wanted to make sure I needed one. Is it true that they reduce FPS?

Depends on the set-up, I find they give amazing air-seal and actually increase FPS in setups that don't have good compression ... But any FPS drop that comes from any sorbothane products will only be like 5 FPS or so (An amount that's completely negligible)

Unless you use something like a "Toolbox custom" sorbo pad that's like.. 1/2 an inch thick.

So it's possible to make your own pad that's thick enough to fine tune (lower) the FPS while providing protection? It's just a rubber pad with a hole in the middle right? :)

Not at all. The black pad on them is a thin layer of protective material to avoid the sorbothane getting cut by the holes in the piston head.

It's laser-cut out of sorbothane which is an extremely high-tech shock absorbing material... Adjusting your FPS by making a pad on the cylinder head is... kinda... dumb.

Buy the appropriate spring, and then use thrust bearings on the spring guide.

I have zero intention of doing so. However theoretically it should work as it will reduce the air volume and the piston striking distance and therefore less FPS. I think this beats cutting coils off the spring lol.

... Actually cutting coils would be alot better...

To add enough material to reduce your FPS would require major and permanent modifications to the piston..

Sorbo shouldn't be used for that.. it should be used for prolonging mechbox life, reducing shock and making the gun quiet.
