Most of the kits that I have seen are arount $150.00 US kind of thing.

Based on some of what I am hearing here is that would be considered a "low end" kit, and would probably not be worth the trouble eh.

I haven't even seen any $300 - $400 kits! That sounds pretty outragous for a kit to me.
