you are suppose to leave gas in them. removing all the gas prior to storage allows the orings to shrink thus causing more leaking.
HFC's just tend to leak. you are pretty much stuck buying HFC G17 mags. though the HFC mags will work in a TM gen 3 G17, the TM mags won't seat in the HFC G17 rendering them useless unless you have a TM
