Hold your arm so your elbow is bent at 90. Hold the pistol grip normally and let the butt sit against your forearm and snug with your upper arm.

If you wear a ton of armour/plate carrier etc. you may want to run it a bit shorter, but otherwise this method has worked for me for years.
