If you like the look of the AK47, then by all means get an AK. At the current moment, the best AK-47 derived AEG is offered by Real Sword, and the best AK-74 derived AEG is offered by VFC.
It's quite difficult to find a bad AK manufacturer, every reputable company offers a decent AK variant, from Inokatsu down to Aftermath. Just don't cheap out on a Crossman R76! A great AK will cost you $400 and upwards.
