if the silencer is metal use laquer thinner on the painted tip.. if its plasitc it could melt from the laquer thinner, the paint will come off with just a little bit of rubbing with laquer.

if its plastic and its not painted but is red, use a fine grit sand paper, (400, 600) and scuff it up and then paint it using matte krylon or spray on truck box liner in light coats using a hair dryer to dry it between. make sure that you use the sand paper before you paint because the paint bonds to the rough surface. if you dont sand first, the paint could flake or peel off because it didnt adhere properly.
