The glass on the Eotech 3X is pretty thick on the front. I have never been worried about it getting shot out, and I don't run around with it flipped. If I know is goignto get flipped lots, I will pull it, mine is the factory Samson mount with ARMS throw lever. They don't make them like that anymore.

Front of the 551 definately needs protection, and it has a custom lens protector. And those have been struck.
