Paint stripper works very well. Done it.
I placed a M4 receiver into pan with stripper in it. Cover to reduce the fumes. Let it sit there for an 1/2 hour. Take it out and used a cloth towel to wipe off the paint that has bubbled. Put it back it and the remaining will dissolve off.
Before I did touch up on certain areas and it looked bad. Looks more professional if you painted the whole receiver or what ever part you are doing. Strip it all and repaint.
