this forum can be quite abrasive, however, keep in mind that the 'which gun should I buy' questions are asked pretty much 2-3 times a week. Answering with the same thing and spawning the same discussion time and time again does get tiresome from this side of the fence, however it doesn't give freedom for people to be dicks.
But to answer your question, the KA is a pretty reasonable budget m4 that won't break the bank and is metal where metal should be.You should have some budget in reserve for when the internals break.
They will break.
It doesn't matter what brand you get, what price you pay, something will go wrong.
If 500$ is your upper limit of just the gun and not including any supporting gear or safety net, then VFC is a better choice.
