RMC minimum age is 16. Even if he did "just turn 17" and got accepted for 2006, then he is 17 upon entering the forces (which is minimum age).
Reserves are 16+ (with parental consent), and regs are 17+ (but he said RMC so nevermind.)
EDIT: of course 16 would be if he is really smart and got skipped ahead a grade, or so, but from his language...i doubt it.
