The short answer to this question is, google.
But I will elaborate a little.
Some shotguns fire 3 bbs at a time. Some simply fire 1.
The down side to using shotguns with shells is the reload Basically picuture each Shell as a mag, and I believe a shotgun can only hold 1 shell at a time. Each shell may only give you about 10 shots before you have to reload with a new shell.
The kind that simple have a smell bb well/mag you simply just pull them out and reload. I have heard that some lower end models suffer from physical failure in the pump, they often break quickly due to to much use.
I sugest attempting to find some reviews on some TM made shotguns.
