Thanks Dynamo, you've all but fixed my feed issues!
As it stand, I'm still looking at about a 1 in 12 missfire ratio which, while acceptable, I'd still like to improve on.
As far as the fix goes, instead of trying to track down a more powerful spring of the correct diameter and length I simply filled the path the spring rests in about 50% full of melted plastic (for those reading this thread in the future looking for an easy fix).
If anyone out there has any thoughts on giving the G36 a 99.9% fire ratio by doctoring the Tappet plate or changing the gear set, please feel free to add your thoughts here.

well instead of replacing the spring, try a pice of soft rubber (should make it stiffer then just with a spring, but should also be soft enough so the BBs can still feed).
