Well before we say the classic "Google is your friend", let me start out by saying that I've gotten really close with him and we are the best of friends. Sadly, google doesn't know everything. He got mad at me when i told him that. Long story short, I've read all the reviews i could find on the Type 89 and it seems like a good gun--my
18 year old friend is thinking about purchasing it--all metal, reliable 3 round burst, the fact that its a TM. But what i didn't find in the reviews was long term remarks about the gearbox. I found a pic of it, and it is essentially a V.2, or at least that is what it looks like. So would it be plagued with all the problems in the cold that normal V.2 mechboxes have? Furthermore, what kind of internal parts does it take? Is it like the TM M14 in that is has a mish-mash of V.2. V.3 compatible parts with a few original parts (i would assume that the whole 3-round burst thing counts as an original part).
My question: Do any of you (or your close friend/teammate) own, or have had experience with this gun?

Well there you have, along with pics for you to examine (specifically the mechbox). I have read all the reviews at Arnie's for this gun, as well as a myriad of other sites like digital wasteland. Anyway, at least i can't get into trouble for not using google. FYI, the site pertaining to the mechbox was in Japanese.
Thanks to all who post,
