Airgun scopes use a 3/8" rail, and sit in small shallow grooves alongside the receiver of the airgun. Weavers use the 20mm rail, which is larger and more robust.

Nutshell, get a proper scope with the proper rings. "Poorman's mounting" might get the scope onto the rifle, but it won't be secure enough to game with and you'll lose/break your airgun scope. Worth the risk? Up to you.
