East German DDR Paratrooper

Hey folks,
Finally got all the pieces to do this impression. It's pretty nice actually.
Need a few more minor pieces like a gas mask bag, but if anyone has any comments/suggestions i'd love to hear them.

Consists of:
DDR Rain Paratrooper Camo
Jump Helmet
4 Pouch AK Mag
3 Pouch Grenade
Canteen
Assault Pack
Canteen and Shovel.
Grey Webbing.
(Boots are Russian however)

Pictures can be found Here

Nice set up Dave! Haven't seen a lot of people wearing East German gear, especially full set of it. I hope to get some pics of my Russian set up taken tomorrow.
Btw, I always thought that that e-tool handle pointing down is a big no-no when it comes to paras loadout.

Hi just thought Id ask where did you find DDR Webbing?

This should be handy if you require East German Leather Jack boots:

For webbing check ebay, I have almost 2 complete set of webbing and didnt even pay 100 cdn. You may need to bid on the pouches and such separately but its really cheap.

Good site for east german kit: http://gowenmilitaria.com/

Would a standard East German Helmet go with the above uniform?

Great uniform.
I did not think anyone would ever try to do that.

Thanks guys, kinda suprised to see this old topic bumped.
I got the webbing from an ebay auction myself but as Ducky said Gowen is also a great place for older DDR gear.
Since this is a paratrooper uniform a standard helmet wouldn't really match, but really anything goes.
Lately i've been building up various different Eastern block uniforms, next up may be a Bulgarian loadout, or yet another Russian but i've got enough Russian already!

Looks really nice! You´ve done a good job ... I´ve just read an article about the DDR Paratroopers in my Magazine ... you look reel steel .

The only thing you need is to konvert your AK47 into a 74 one.

Cheers

Yeah it would be nice to get ahold of some of the brown bakalite foregrips and an east german folding stock. Maybe after I finish some other AK's off i'll do that.
