question about load bearing vests
I found this image of a Canadian soldier, looking to see what I need to complete my CADPAT uni, this looks pretty cool:
![]() but I was looking at the shoulder pads this guy has, I haven't seen anything like this, are these accessories ?if so, anyone know where to get them ? |

Totally different. Plus, there's only a velcro tab to attach those on one sleeve, isn't there? Those shoulder pads do look pretty killer though. Anybody worn them? Are they comfortable?

They have a strap... I think the velcro tab is to put a rank/flag patch on it. Just offering the guy alternatives.

The "shoulder pads" are part of the new ballistic vest and ARE currently being issued in small numbers to troops overseas as they are produced.

Do the shoulder bits themselves provide any ballistic protection?

Yes they most certianly do, otherwise there would be no point to having them :P

But yeah, if you can magically purchase a CADPAT kevlar vest...then there ya go. As for the brassard, the attach under the flag flap, and serve as nothing then a place to sew badges (MP's, etc..).

well, I am deffinatly out of date, they just didn't have anything that cool when I was in, but, that doesn't look like a kevlar vest, still, I'd love to get one.

http://www.pacsafety.com/products/4100.htm As the FPV is government issue, and buying from Pacific Safety requires a license, getting a 100% genuine one legally is currently not plausible. However, Tiger Tactical sells their own CADPAT *covers* (here and here), which means you will have to provide your own inserts. If you know you don't have your own suitable inserts for this and won't be getting any soon, tell them. |

thats what I thought they were wearing, but that doesn't look the same as the one in the moving image at the top, the one in the image looks like a tactical vest as appossed to a fragmentation vest, looks like 14 pockets/pouch's in front and side, empty in back with a V openning, I definatly like it.
I know I won't ever get a flack vest, but can I get one like this guy is wearing ? :borg: |
