im trying to pull back on the dark grey rectangular piece, but it wont budge. I know that I need to do something to the silver ring with the clips on either side but that wont move as well

Anyone?? Help? The following are some pics I took. The silver ring encapsulates the entire silencer and its one piece:

I don't have first hand experience with that exact model, but from the looks of it, if you pull the |____| shaped part down, you can then swing the sliver hook around, then as this is held open it should slide over the flash hider and crown it, then when you release the hook it should lock it in place.

^^^ got the idea, pull silver tab(hooked piece) and it will release the metal clamp, slide clamp up, put on silencer, push clamp down, spring locks with hooked arm

the |________| can only be pulled down a few millimetres, it cant be pulled down or pushed higher because there are two barrels (the two open cylinders in the pics) that are latched on it.

the silver hook cant be swung clockwise or counter clockwise as well since the ring gets thicker underneath and is obstructed by the |________| on both sides and the clip is blocked by the staircase thing on the |____|

I may be wrong, but I was under the impression you need a specific flash hider for the KAC QD Silencers to fit.

On the VFC model, the black clamp on the side pops out all the way..you slide it on the flash hider and then push it back down.

On the G&P one, it doesnt work like that. Just like you said, it only moves a few mm. When you move the little latch on the outside of the suppressor, you will notice the ring on the inside move making the diameter bigger. You then slide over the flash hider. You must have the flash hider with the little notch carved out. The pin on the inside tip of the suppressor will sit in the notch. You then slide the quick release latch back. This causes the inner ring of the suppressor to close and clamp itself around the last ring of the flash hider. Between clamping on the ring, and the notch, your suppressor will stay put.

Okay, im back from a few hours of trying to figure this out. It turns out, Ive been doing exaclty what SINN told me in the post above. I bought the silencer from a guy here and the steel flash hider he gave me was too long and didnt fit in the groove of the latch. Im not sure if he gave me the official G&P that came with the silencer. But I did a but of modification and made the flash hider shorter. It took a bit of time, blood, and torn skin, but i finally managed.

It seems like i have been modifying alot of airsoft stuff lately, from airbrushing, carving rails, making decals, and shortening flash hiders.
