Sorry to bring back an old post from the dead, but I felt it was more appropriate than creating a new one.
Now I see that the Revolution gearboxes are available in M110 & M130 (and more options, but those are the two I'm actually considering). Wild guess here that those numbers are the sping velocity rating in meters per second, which would convert to 360fps for M110 and 425 fps for M130. Problem is that 360 is underpowered for such an investment on a gearbox, and M130 will not allow me to play on any field around here (400 fps limit) Now are the spring ratings reliable, because in the earlier posts of this thread, some guys reported 540 fps (where the hell are you guys playing with those velocities anyways?) with M150, which technically should give, if we convert 150 m/s to fps ; 495 fps. Also, do they make intermediate power (in-between) springs for those gearboxes, i.e. a M120 spring...?

360 is underowered? You sir have no idea what you are talking about. 360 is perfecly fine outdoors with .25 or even .28 bbs it just won't punch throught the brush as much

Also, my objective is actually to get 400fps with .2g (which are the standard BBs for chrony up here) in order to get approximately 360-370 with .25s

Check out this page for the FPS ratings (using .2g BB) of the Revolution gearboxes:

Maybe a spacer on the spring guide of an M110 mechbox?

This was my only complaint with the PTW - in all other respects it is a superior solution BUT, it is not in any way milspec for waterproofing and as such is prone to malfunction in the rain or in moist environments. The picture of the inside of the box don't show the electronics embedded in resin or anything so I suspect it will have issues with the rain, same as the PTWs. Until they weatherproof that circuitry, it will have the same problems I am sure. |

The circuit board on the PTW was exposed via the split between the upper and lower.
The mech box style design doesn't have that inherent open area next to the circuit board and I doubt the same issues will arise. It's a completely different design.

That's a stupid idea, and likely to cost you a piston and rack gear.
The M110 varies from as low as 340 to as high as 380 fps, and the M130 varies from as low as 375 to as high as 425. Most M130 seem to fall in the 410-420 area. They use the same spring as the PTW, and if you feel adventurous you can make your own from an APS250 spring. There's lots of info out there on how to do that. As for the water issue, the 2008 electronics have seemed to be better in that regard, and a simple spray of PC board varnish solves that problem, as well as a thin skin of grease on the receiver joints (for M4 PTW only). It's seems to be a hit or miss thing though. Some guys have played on the west coast for dozens of game in rain, never a problem. Others out east play in light drizzle and seem to have them go down in spades. I would think that the Revo as well as the TW5 would not be as susceptable due to the boards being inside the gearbox.

Nah. The pros know melded springs are the only way to go.
