I didn't mean to suggest great things weren't currently happening. But it's a matter of long-term sustainability.
The fact that the online community is both tiny AND surly is right up there with the import ban in terms of it's impact on it's future prospects. Last edited by Hedonism Bot; October 2nd, 2007 at 13:15.. |

Wow, you guys are the cream of the crop. I just spent 5 minutes trimming this thread of the crap some of you guys spew and issuing out infractions to most of you.
Seriously, you can't even let a guy start up a project to help the community? Holy fuck. Damn, I always thought I was a patient guy, but ASC is really starting to push me to the limit after all these years. |

Your original comment I was replying to was basically that "paintballers just go out and play." And they do. They go out, and they shoot stuff (each other, you know what I mean). What I was trying to emphasize is that a very large segment of airsofters, as displayed in the picture I posted (yes, it's a staged photo, that's why they don't have their goggles on. It's irrelevant), are not only into the milsim aspect but also the gear. I use to play paintball a lot (woodsball, back in the late 80s and early 90s) and when someone (ol' man Poncho) introduced me to airsoft, the three things that immediately got my attention were 1) realistically layed out guns, 2) full auto, and 3) the ability to use it in conjunction with real world gear (I was starting to collect some real world gear around then). The point is, people putting together a $1000+ AEG and dropping another $400-500+ (easily) for a proper gear impression with all the peripheral gear... those players are coming to the table with a very distinctive mindset (which isn't just run around and shoot each other). Nor will they be keen on getting their gear covered in paint goo (which seems much worse at a lot of indoor facilities, probably because it doesn't rain and nobody is washing it down). So while airsofters sometimes do play on paintball fields, paintball fields generally do not cater to airsofters beyond "you can use the field."

I totaly agree with you Drake, being an Ex Airsoft player and having true all of the joy and hardship that the airsoft world can bring, I know totaly well that special world. That is why, my original post was an invatation to airsofters come tome over to the field and play, after adjusting the price to 10,00 for 5 hours, and stating to the community that the field IS a paintball field first and opened for airsoft venues on off days.
But yeah all in all I know about the airsoftworld and that is why the first invatation was sent out. |

RARE APPEARANCE ON ASC......
Spent a couple hours at Tri-balle. I like it. Was crazy busy for hours. Left at 2am. Looking forward to see his goals become a reality.

If anyone has ever played where paintball is done, they will know that no one will want to play indoors there, because its insanely slippery, and messy, couple weeks and that place will be ubernasty.
atleast i wouldnt. |
