Side arms (pistol)

I plan on buying a new KJW Berreta m9 elite IA. Any thoughts on the quality of the gun and any other suggestions.

Not the greatest but definitely not the worst. There are better choices out there, its cost somewhat reflects its quality. Some KJ magazines have been known to be prone to leaking. If you keep your magazines well oiled and gassed up during storage you may not run into to many issues with them.

I typed out a ridiculously long winded post but accidentally closed my browser before I could finish and post it, so here is the short version.

Will you be using your sidearm a lot? Consider how much use you will be using it before you decide on a brand. If you will be using it casually, by all means purchase the KJ as it is a fair quality item at a fairly low cost. If you will be using your side arm consistently and constantly I would suggest purchasing a gun from KSC or Tokyo Marui as both companies have easily sourceable replacement parts and enhancement parts for a majority of their line ups.

Or if you're interested in a M9 (probably not the proper name for the airsoft version) that is a Marui-type full metal somewhat-clone, yet shoots accurately and reliably out of the box - take a look at the HFC M190's. I haven't had personal experience with the HFC ones, but I can tell you that the KJW's aren't great. Too much crap metal on them.

I had a KJW full metal around 5 or 6 years ago (it was the two tone M92FS Elite, but really the same thing). Worked great and never had issues with it over the several months I owned it and I estimate I put around 1000 bb's through it. Just keep the mags well oiled and charged during storage and you will not have a problem.

As for the pistol, after every use I suggest you clean and oil it properly then store it in a clean dry place. As stated before the quality of the metal is alittle low and its most likely a high concentration of magnesium so it is prone to oxidation. Dutiful cleaning and oiling will prevent it from doing so.

Personally though, for the cost I would rather pick up a WE (Im taken by both their 3.8 Hicapa and 1911SV). Frankly they seem to be better built and are around the same price point. Although I hear the same complaints about their mags. Though they are alittle harder to come across, as I know of only one retailer who is offering them.

Probably. Not quite as accurate/upgradeable as a KJW M9, but then again, there aren't even that many aftermarket TM-compatible M9 parts in the first place.
