An M4/M16 style is not an LMG (unless you're making a shrike, but that seems way out of your budget)
RPK is probably the cheapest option, just convert an AK. |

G36 + drum mag = cheap LMG

Styrak is correct using the parts you have available the only variant of an LMG you could create is that of a shrike, and even then you would not use all of your remaining parts . I actually cannot think of any LMGs that use a V2 mechbox at this time.

there is an M16A2 LMG, but I've never seen that handguard off a real gun before.
(fires from open bolt, and blah blah) Also, there was an AR-10 prototype that was built to fire from a belt as well as a mag, but that is the 7.62x51 receiver and bakelite handguard, so probably won't work either Ooh look, videos YouTube- Belt fed AR-10 YouTube- M16 A2 LMG

Colt canada manufactures the LSW (or light support weapon) variant of the M16A4. And is available, although finding the front end might be pretty damn hard all by its lonesome.
For more info on specifics check out Colt Canada's current catalog. LSW or http://www.coltcanada.com/PDF%20Forms/CC-cat-web.pdf Also fyi its currently only in service in the Norwegian military service Cheers Last edited by Rugger_can; April 27th, 2010 at 00:57.. |

I just read you only have a gearbox and motor left... Probably better to sell that off, no way you are building an AR variant LMG for under $600 excluding internals.

He has a complete front end, if he picked up the rest of the parts from various classified's adds and shopped around he could build a gun for around 300 if he went cheap on the receiver.

I know G&P used to have M249 conversion kits!
Essentially it's the entire G&P M249 but without a V2 mechbox LOL +1, LSW is the best way to go And an G36 with a heavy barrel and a box mag is NOT an LMG. That's like slapping a C-mag on a SAM-R and saying it's an LMG. IT'S NOT RIGHT. |

Well if you are on a budget do it team Hot Shot style (but newer 2010 version of course)
M4 either a used TM, Classic Army or King Arms (anything with metal body will do) Systema M120 box Madbull Diablo or JP front end Full stock or 417 crane stock 2500 rnds box mag or beta C mags 20c Lipo |
