If you go with G&P, I recommend the M140 over M120. They generally have higher build quality.
Remember M120s are what go in all their stock guns, so they're designed for mass production, not quality. |

Hmmm in that case how about marui eg1000 or eg700? are they any good? Also what does the "eg" stand for? Every other motor has an "m".

same thing is stands for in springs, absolutely nothing lol
The 700 is the torque motor, the 1000 is the higher speed. I like both, they're good, stock, efficient motors. If you're running under 350, TM is definitely the way to go |

I think I might stick with G&P and get extra pinion gears in case of strip. Appreciate the help

I'm sry to hijack your thread, but I have been searching info about systema motors and I found nothing.
Anyone have some experience with them ? How about those relatively new Systema "A to Z" motor 100$ each ?

Note that to use the spare pinion gears you'll need a pinion tool (at least for the type of shaft/pinion that the G&P and a lot of other motors use), and these tools actually run fairly close to the price of a motor, so if you don't anticipate needing a pinion tool more than once, you can safely skip getting the backup pinion gear

Don't get a systema motor, especially not a magnum.
If it's got a polycarbonate end bell though, it should be fine. But with the magnums they used an aluminum end bell which makes the neg and pos poles arc together, causing ridiculous power drain and overheating |

I have a Systema magnum motor in an MP5 with a Systema Mecha box with a systema 130 spring,no issues other than the motor does get alittle warm and thats it.But that might be from the Lipo pushing as well.I don't think its anything to do with the fact of it having an Alum. end bell,more like alot of carbon deposits from the brush to comm. contact in an enclosed space (clean it). I'v been around the R/C type motors for about 25 years now and it being because Alum. enbell would have done the same with those. But a build up of carbon can cause all sorts of issues. R/C cars were using thoes types of magnets 20 years ago (Astroflight 05 motors) were the first and were banned from the race tracks pretty quick because of the unfair power difference.Anyways on that note my Systema motor and gear box set is the first one they came out with and not the newer ones,so I can't comment on the new ones.

Install an SW-COMP and see how many rounds you can get off before it overheats lol
Now that you know your grip gets warm, try a G&P M160 and see how that goes. Word is they're supposed to be on par with the performance you get out of a properly insulated magnum. |

I have some G&Ps and they don't get as warm as the Systema and my ICS 3000 runs cooler,but I think the magnums get a bit of a bad rap thats all. But at the same time I find my Systema & ICS motors are able to turn over some pretty big springs without straining.As much as I like the G&P motors,they just don't seem to like the big springs.I don't see a lot of difference if your not going over 400fps for these builds anyways though. I have to say I didn't like Classic Army motor at all.They didn't last long and burnt out fast,not worth my time. But as with all airsoft related parts they all seem to have good and bad runs of parts so maybe I just picked up one of Systema's better built motors who know's?I have a stock G&P M4SO that has the 120 motor and it's about 5-6 years old with no issues.

I have now installed and sold several Matrix Magnum motors. They are Systema Magnum clones (but they have a polymer end bell, not aluminum) and are extremely powerful for 1/2 the price. They are the most expensive motor that I carry, but are still only $60. I also just received a large order of Element motors. They are more expensive than they used to be, but are still a super deal. Element motors are well known to be excellent Systema Energy clones. They are very well built and are known to be a "best bang for the buck" item.
Regarding the Matrix Magnum: I just installed a 500fps rig for a customer in his CA33. I used a mosfet and 11.1v Lipo to test the rig. The Classic Army motor in the gun wouln't even turn the gearbox half a cycle. I put a Matrix magnum in the gun and did no other changes. The gun works, smooth as butter. Single shot, 3 round burst, full auto all compressing an M155 spring at 500fps. Matrix Magnum motors are a "best bang for the buck" item as well. |

I haven't been able to run a single SW-COMP with a magnum motor. On semi auto, you get about 20 rounds out consecutively before the comp overheats. Whereas with a G&P M160, you pull the same spring at the same RoF, and you can shoot semi till you run out of ammo without it overheating
Try keeping track of how many mags you go through in a mini battery, then swap motors for an ICS or G&P and see how many mags you get out of the same battery. From what I've seen in the field, it's typically 2-3x more. |
