voltage
can I run a gun wich comes with a 1100mah battery of a 1500mah battery, without damaging the weapon engine?

the MaH and voltage have nothing to do with eachother, mAh is milliamper hour, a measure of the current. voltage is the battery's power. so you could use a 1500 mAh battery without problem, but a 1500V battery will set your motor on fire.
most airsoft guns use 7 or 8 cell batteries, usually called 8.4V or 9.6V respectively. most can handle a 9.6v 3300 mAh battery without issue. Last edited by durak; March 12th, 2012 at 12:09.. |

What brand and model?
Also mAh is how much current you have available (juice to power your gun) while voltage is the electrical potential difference (how much push you can push current through your wires). C discharge rating is something else that is kind of important but just make sure to keep it at or under 20C discharge if using a 7.4V and under 20C if using an 11.1V. I recommend 9.6V NiMh/NiCd or a 7.4V Lipo if you're just starting out. Also as much capacity as you can fit into whatever space you have. This will depend on the model and where your battery is stored (eg, buffer tube, PEQ box, Crane stock, handguard, etc.) If you want to get fancy you can even go with a LFP (LiFePo4) battery which is more or less equivalent to a 9.6V NiMh battery.

Well I'll also offer a layman terms explantion.
More Mah=More time your battery will last before the battery dies. More Voltage= faster firing rate (wears out internals faster as parts move that much faster.) |
