I'm going with a MadBull DD 12.5" RIS so I'll probably have to get a PEQ box. I'm going for a look similar to an M4 RECCE.

If you were to run a 7" Midwest MCTAR-17 RIS, you can fit up to a 9.6V NiCad inside. It's not free-float(or 12"), but it's fairly solid if you do the modifications correctly, and saves rail space.

So I've decided,

Bought a G&P C8A1 carbine from Toronto airsoft, I'm going to fit it with a tan battery crane stock and Madbull Daniel Defense Mk18 9.5" rail and a CAR-15 style flash hider. I'm just curious as to wheather or not the standard M4 barrel can accommodate the front sight post with an added 2.5"

T6 is not an alloy, it's a heat treatment condition of aluminum

And when you can get a good, reliable, upgradeable, WORKING King Arms M4 for MUCH less than the $600 or so it's going to cost you to build an M4 from scratch, it's WAY cheaper to just buy a complete gun.
And you will have no headaches due to fitment issues or bran incompatibility.
