Might need to see a Doc...

I just bought a Velocity Arms - Zombie Killer from here

http://torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=1474

and I have removed all of the required pins and such "circled everything in the picture" however the gear box seems to be stuck on the fire mode selector switch. The switch can be toggled from either side of the gun so I don't know if there's a pin through the gear box here that needs to be removed. I've also removed the buffer tube, motor and hand grip.

Any doc know how I would get it out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need to remove the ambi fire selector, you do this by removing a cap that is glued to the right hand selector switch. underneath it there is a small Allen screw, undo that and the gearbox should be free. you may need to do the same on the left one as well. (been a while since i worked on one of these)

you had to create a new thread when you were already given the answer?

The answers I've been given in the other thread are great and all but they haven't solved my problem. I've tried to remove the so called cap to revile a screw of some sort but its not coming off and I don't want to mess the gun up. I started this thread to find a gun doc to help me out... This is the right place for that? no?

Okay so because the cap's not coming off you're going to stop trying?

It's superglued onto the selector switch on both sides, you'll need to get a sharp knife and/or a heatgun to get it off.

Or you can PM me, drive it up to me and I'll just charge you $40 to pop off 2 covers. Up to you.

lol no I haven't stopped trying but since I've never worked with one of these guns I don't want to screw it up by getting impatient. I'll try a heat gun that couldn't hurt. Thanks for the suggestion.

The plate is made out of very cheap potmetal anyway, there's a 70% chance you'll break one or both of them. But rest assured you don't need them and in fact, some real steel selector switches do have the hex bolt exposed.

ie: KAC ambidextrous selector switches

I told you to remove the ambidextrous mode selector switch. I also told you it's a VFC clone. These switches work virtually identically across the entire line of VFC KAC guns and their respective clones (Bravo, DBoys, etc).

I'm not about to spoon feed you but... I am.. about to.. spoon feed .. you

1) Google "vega force company" or VFC

2) click their site link

3) Go to the "tech support" area

4) find yourself on this amazing page:

http://www.gb-tech.com.tw/newsite/download.asp?page=2

5) Click on one of the SR guns ... the one I indicated on EHA's site was a virtually identical setup to your Zombie Killer.

6) Presto...!

By the way...

7) This manual will ALSO help you with the insides. Note the similarity of the way the bolt release works, the way the little ambi gears function, etc etc. Nice design.

8) Guess what? You can order replacement parts for the trickier bits for this clone directly from VFC and you can reference the part number from the exploded diagram.

Just email: janet@vegaforce.com.tw

She is a pleasure to deal with and can quote you on a price including shipping. I've morphed my DBoys clone of a VFC gun into a VFC gun this way.

Hope that helps... You better pay the spoon feeding forward

p.s. Yes, you WILL need to force that plate off the switch so that you can see the hex screw, but just take your time.. You don't really need to put it back on after.

Note also... In the exploded diagram above it looks as if the VFC cover plate has a hole for the screw or something. This is actually not the case. What you see on that diagram is a small oval with the word "KAC" in it. The DBoys clones actually come with this plate in a little separate baggie so you can super-glue it yourself at any time. I left it off.

Thanks MackiekA! I will have to pay the spoon feeding forward for sure! I was able to remove it and finish swapping out the spring. It's all back together and working great. Thank you very much everyone for helping out.
